In the immortal words of rapper Clipse, April Bloomfield is now kinda like a big deal. The food world already knew this (and consequently showered her with accolades and many restaurants and book deals), but now the business world has seen fit to honor the lady chef too.
Bloomfield, 38, was added to Crain’s annual 40 Under 40 list thanks to the success of her not-so-miniature culinary empire, which now consists of multiple restaurants and hotel deals, a book, a position in the State Department, and the secret enmity of Gordon Ramsay. She shares space on this prestigious list with a crazy group of luminaries and leaders, like Ben Smith (Editor-in-Chief of Buzzfeed), Neil Blumenthal (cofounder of Warby Parker), and Grace Meng (Member of the U.S. House of Representatives). This means that Bloomfield is just as important as all of them, so everyone, respect her greatness.
Lest you think all the adulation has gone to April’s head, she’s still humble enough to describe herself as being “stoked” to cook for U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron at a State Department dinner. So, go April Bloomfield.
