Since summer is winding down, the hosts of The Chew decided to celebrate with one last grilling show (including tips on how to keep the grilling party going indoors). Joining Mario Batali in a segment on how to involve the kids in the kitchen, even when participating in such dangerous cooking activites as playing with fire, was none other than our fave foodie ELMO!
Yes, our three-and-half-year old BFF donned his chef’s hat and apron to help Mario cookie-cutter out some fun pasta shapes for a broccoli rabe pesto. Unfortunately, while charring his greens on the grill, Elmo protested that Mario was burning them.
“That’s not burning, that’s called charring!” Mario insisted. “You know the difference between charred and burnt?”
“Being professional?” Elmo replied.
Ouch! Ya got burnt, Mario. The pair also discussed potentially running for office to criminalize the common American practice of over-saucing pasta. Are we the only ones wondering if we should pick Sesame Street back up again? Check out the two clips below.
