The city of Boston is experiencing a collective freak out, at least according to this Boston Globe article, about the arrival of a Mario Batali restaurant to its waterfront Innovation District neighborhood.
While we generally believe this sort of hoopla should be reserved for Eataly openings and Nutella Bars only, Batali is set to establish a casual, 8700-square-foot Babbo Pizzeria, with three bars serving wood-fired pizza, antipasti, and cocktails, by the end of the year. Said Batali to the Globe:
“We’re embracing the openness and brightness of the space but paying careful attention to construct beautiful, distinct, and comfortable zones within the light-filled room…The area has already exhibited the critical mass necessary for the restaurant to thrive. We think there’s a solid foundation there.”
