The choice of venue — an upscale Italian restaurant which sources all of its products from the Mediterranean — took Obama Foodorama by surprise, since Mrs. Obama is notorious for her seasonal/local produce advocacy, as well as her chic, classy hair that has never, and should never, look anything like a Tina Turner bob.
At 6:45, the Obamas arrived by motorcade at the Georgetown restaurant and joined their friends in a private dining room. The White House Press Pool was sequestered at a different restaurant away from Michelle Obama’s hair, which requested privacy as it celebrated a milestone event with its family and friends.
This is the first time Michelle Obama’s new haircut has been treated to Italian cuisine, though the Obamas themselves have frequently visited Italian restaurants throughout their relationship — notably Tony Mantuano’s famous Spiaggia, nominated for several James Beard Awards and largely considered the Obamas’ favorite date night restaurant. As of press time, Mr. Mantuano had no comment about Mrs. Obama’s new haircut.
