In what can only be described as the greatest restaurant commercial ever, a new Staten Island restaurant has … really outdone itself.
Gawker spoke with the owner of Troy Restaurant, who assured the world that the “Empire of Taste” is European-style. But really, we’ve gotten everything we need to know from the commercial (and some photos, courtesy of Gothamist).
Gawker also emailed briefly with the director of the commercial, Edward Izro, who said this about his new critically acclaimed hit:
Troy is completely my idea as a restaurant and the commercial alone
my script my directing and actors casting
I deliberately took an actor with an accent and it made the audience interested in a restaurant
Well, he did do that.
So, you know, if you happen to to be in Staten Island and in the mood for a suckling piglet among Art Deco statues and European-ish recipes, Troy Restaurant is the place to be. The only restaurant that might ever compare is Staples, courtesy of 30 Rock.
