The cast of The Chew cozied up around their cocktails with a copy of the New York Post to kick off this afternoon’s show with the paper’s latest slam of Gwyneth Paltrow. The Post ran an article calling her “an insufferable elitist,” “rich,” “privileged,” “holier than thou,” and saying that she “enrages people” in response to her being named People Magazine’s Most Beautiful Woman in the World. Preach, New York Post.
Then, the cast of The Chew rushed to Gwynnie’s defense, oohing and ahhing over how she’s so much more beautiful in person. Daphne Oz swiftly unleashed her inner goddess and called Gwyneth’s detractors a bunch of “adult mean girls” resorting to high school antics to tear her down for her successes. Which like, yes, but also: $25 honey and special Thomas Keller flour. Seriously. We are enraged.
Mario Batali finally swooped in after the love fest celebrating GP’s fabulosity to clue everyone in on the fact that Post is a publication which occasionally takes a snarky bent. We’re grateful that someone on this segment stayed firmly rooted in cynical reality, even if he is a Gwyneth sympathizer.
