In a wide-ranging interview with Reason Magazine, Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian not only revealed his love for America’s premier libertarian magazine, but points to the free-market philosophy as the source of America’s recent outburst of culinary innovation.
“What we’ve witnessed in the past 25 or 30 years is just incredible,” Zakarian revealed in an interview with Reason’s Nick Gillespie at The Lambs Club. “We’ve birthed 30,000 or 40,000 restaurants. I used to go to Europe every year to get experience [and ideas]. I don’t go to Europe anymore. I go to Oregon, I go to Washington. I go to Louisiana, I go to Little Rock. I go to Austin. I travel New York City. I don’t go to Europe anymore.”
And do you know how we know he’s One Of The Libertarian Tribe? Because he is really not a fan of the government dictating people’s diets:
Gillespie: What drives the desire to tell people what they can and cannot eat?
Zakarian: (pause) I don’t know.
