Grant Achatz’s next Next theme is a kaiseki meal in Kyoto. A Japanese tradition stretching back for hundreds of years, the most well-known form of kaiseki is a large, multi-course meal, once served only to the imperial family in Kyoto, of small tasting portions intended to highlight the individual flavors of each bite, which is why we have no idea what the hell this trailer is supposed to be about.
For some reason it reminds us of Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill, with the dialogue of something happening in Inception. While it’s much more intriguing than the usual twanging shamisen music that normally accompanies footage of Japanese food, we still have no idea what is going on.
