Internet detectives and nerds who can enhance photos! Get your geek butts on this video from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, the authorities currently investigating the Case Of The Stolen Pappy Van Winkle. (To recap: last week someone, possibly an employee, stole $26,000 of Pappy Van Winkle 20-year Reserve, the most coveted bourbon in the world, and the world fainted.)
In an interview with Bourbon Blog, Sheriff Pat Melton said that they were looking for a person of interest spotted on Sunday who had attempted to sell a liquor store, two hours away from the Buffalo Trace Distillery, a “large quantity” of 20-Year Reserve. These bottles can rake in nearly $5,000 a bottle on the secondary market, and the fact that someone is attempting to offload them already indicates that the thieves do not read food blogs or go on the internet often.
