And Grammie, as for the current crowd in the White House being ” intellectual, nuanced and sophisticated”: When an administration which cannot even handle simple things like gifts to the sons of world leaders, protocol when meeting heads of state, or even the spelling of a common type of wine is considered to have a any characteristic higher than than “sheer incompetence,” then you demonstrate a compulsive dishonesty–or at best a cult-mentality disorder–which renders your opinion not only worthless, but morally unjustifiable.

I guess some of you think that if Obama had been told that the French PM was on the phone for him (which is a screwup of the campaign rather than the candidate, Steve Schmidt), the Great and Mighty O would have quickly decided that this guy with the French accent couldn’t possibly be Sarkozy, and hang up. Well, consider this: The same comedians previously “got” Sarkozy himself as well.

Maybe HuffPo’s BHO-protecting people should get around to mentioning that fact now that Obama’s sheen has worn off for Sarko.

Stories that are hyped as proof positive of the absolute stupidity, ignorance and naivete of all prominent Repubs, especially GWB and Palin, are ever legion and seem to be de rigeur for the MSM. I wish I had a dollar for every time such accusations were thrown my way b/c I am a conservative Repub. You don’t agree with me that if this happened to GWB and VP Cheney it would have been fodder for more dumb accusations against GWB and his staff?

As for the picture taken I consider it to be a really big deal b/c of what it undeniably demonstrates. I’m surprised that you are so sanguine about two people gaining such access to both POTUS and the VP. I would not be surprised that they could have smuggled in a small explosive thru the Metal Detectors and blown up the whole venue if they had been dedicated terrorists with some good technical back up..

My guess is that the ultimate fault is going to fall on a BHO staffer who overrode the Secret Service.

As for this post, I have a theory about why it’s being picked up by HuffPo and Raw Story – because it’s the day after Thanksgiving! And it’s Palin! Cha-ching. I agree that there is no gotcha here – very, very different than the Sarkozy embarrassment (btw a far greater embarrassment than taking a photo with someone). Actually Palin was quite gracious in responding not once but twice, despite the barging into her book signing and subsequent loading dock ambush (I guess the Canucks are watching Bill O’Reilly!). The clip just isn’t really that funny. BTW “This Hour Has 22 Minutes” has a history of doing this sort of thing; they also did it to George Bush. It’s a blip.

With her gullibility and naivete she might have hammed it up at the first State Dinner with two wanna be reality stars who crashed the party and even allowed herself to be photographed with them grinning like a jackass eating cactus!

I’m so glad that I can hold my head up today with pride b/c we finally have an intellectual, nuanced and sophisticated group in the White House.
