But this doesn’t make it okay that Beyonce did it. She is just one example. a lot of these celebrities claim they care about world issues such as the problem in Libya, yet they are willing to excuse their values for money. That’s really a shame.

as an alum of syracuse university, a school which lost 35 of its students in the lockerbie bombing, i am disgusted by this. i have since boycotted these artists, whose greed obviously outweigh their dignity.

Some in the music industry have suggested that Beyonce and Usher, both self-righteous hypocrites, should donate the proceeds from their outrageous private performances for the Qaddafis to charity so they can
be pardoned for their greediness and support for criminals against humanity. I would say this would be worst. They took their “blood money”, let them keep it in shame, if they have any. No charity should accept money from crime operations. And stop apologyzing for Beyonce and Usher not knowing background on the Qaddafis. JayZ has a well oiled public relations staff and he himself is a smart businessman who is well versed in world affairs. JayZ is Beyonce’s key advisor. Claiming no knowledge of Qaddafy and his sons would be like saying they don’t know who Elvis Pressley was. Qaddady and their sons are household names. The music industry and fans should conduct their own boycott of these greedy anti-role models.

You all didn’t update your story to make it the right son. It was Muatsim at the party the one that has the closest ties to the West. I’m surprised that many a website failed to post this info. The NY Post even had a correct that said that Joseph Sammut, a Malta businessman, is the one that paid for the party.

The NY Post has this story also about the event. So it may be that Beyonce, Gwen Stefani and Prince actually performed for this Russian billionaire. But again, I a little loss why if the US government under Bush said that it was ok to start associating with LIbya again why it would be a big deal about Beyonce doing it when we’ve many Americans and American corporations doing it now. :

Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich has taken his outlandish spending habits to a new level during these hard times — with a mind-boggling, celebrity-studded, $5 million New Year’s Eve celebration.
Party-hearty Lindsay Lohan, along with Orlando Bloom and his girlfriend, Miranda Kerr, were among 250 guests who joined a private celebration at the oil and steel magnate’s new $90 million Caribbean estate on St. Barts.
The entertainment cost $1.7 million and included performances by Beyoncé, Gwen Stefani and Prince, who were each paid about $567,000, according to Britain’s Daily Mail.

A fleet of private jets were on hand to transport the guests to the secluded estate, where the 43-year-old oligarch and his socialite girlfriend, Daria Zhukova, kept the merriment rolling with $2.6 million worth of food and drink.
Beyoncé was spotted earlier with hubby Jay-Z and R&B singer Usher at the Nikki Beach restaurant, where she also performed before shuttling off to the 70-acre estate to watch the midnight fireworks off one of Abramovich’s yachts.
It was just a drop in the bucket for the billionaire, who held down the 51st spot on Forbes’ 2009 rich list with an estimated net worth of $8.5 billion.
Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons and Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen also have held lavish island parties in the past, but nothing as over the top as this.
“Roman is new to the island and wants to come in with a bang,” a source told the Daily Mail.
Abramovich purchased the Gouverneur Bay beachfront estate with a swim-up bar and an outdoor stage and cinema in September.
He splurged in New York in October, when he hosted nine guests at Nello on the Upper East Side, ordering seven bottles of wine at $5,000 apiece to go along with $600 plates of truffles during their meal.
Those menu items helped him run up a $47,221 tab.
Abramovich also owns the Chelsea soccer team in London, as well as the world’s biggest yacht, which is outfitted with bulletproof glass and is equipped with a submarine.

You and a lot of media are leaving out a lot of important details. In 2006, George Bush said that Libya was no longer a country considered to sponsor terrorism, Libya is helping America fight terrorism and he encouraged American corporations to do business with Libya. This is still the official policy of the US government today. The European Union feels the same way about Libya.

There were a lot of American CEOs and executives at this party that are currently or interested in doing business with Libya, now that it was permitted by the Bush administration.

Wow ! Some celebrities and entertainers really are pathetic! How greedy are they? Taking money from entertaining terrorists and murderers is disgusting. I hope other decent Americans feel the same way and will not FORGIVE this behavior. NO TOLERANCE for their actions. if you are a person that knows right from wrong then you make choices showing that. Why do these celebrities feel that they can do anything and get away with it. I challenge the media to report this story and show AMERICANS that BLOOD money means more to Beyonce, Usher, Jay-Z, Lindsay Lohan , Jon Bon Jovi, Simmons, supermodels Miranda Kerr, Victoria Slivstedt, BET founder Bob Johnson and Mariah Carey than doing what is right. SHAME on them. NO Forgiveness when they later apologize when their pockets are filled with guilt and cash!!!!!

this does not surprise me one bit. i am blk and im ashamed beyonce has helped mainstream marginalize what it means to b a bkw wmn in usa. she is nothing but a blk sarah palin. her whole agenda is primarily about the attention she could get. but unlike sarah who has a clue about a few things political and had what it took to in the least become governor of her state. beyonce has no clue; just an industry puppet w/ empty musick and an even emptier head. i suspect she has no f-ing idea who or what the lockerbie bomber was involved in. at the same token, she found her attention-whore-ass trying to upstage the obama’s at the inauguration and was called out by various cable-politcal news shows “sasha fierce does dc…” sMH. this ho IS unAMERICAN need to STFD & STFU!!!!!
