Conservative Filmmaker Allegedly Passes Out Bongs To Occupy Wall Street Protesters

Video

Conservative filmmaker Evan Coyne Maloney was spotted at Occupy Wall Street allegedly passing out bongs and Che Guevara rolling papers to demonstrators.

Video blogger Joey Boots caught Maloney purportedly distributing the drug paraphernalia at the demonstration and interrogated him about what he was doing with the items. “Do you have bongs and marijuana leaf pictures and stickers and Che Guevara?” Boots grilled Maloney, as transcribed by Raw Story‘s David Edwards. “Are you giving it out? Do you have it in that backpack?”

“Over there they gave out bongs,” exclaimed an Occupy Wall Street protester. “He’s like, ‘You answer, here’s a bong.’ Trying to get that one shot. All they had was bongs, peace signs with marijuana and Che Guevara rolling papers. Three things when Fox News gets it, they’ll just clip that then it’s just like protesters accept it.”

“Are we going to expect to see those pictures on Fox News?” Boots yelled out.

“I don’t know if they’ll pick it up, maybe you’ll see it on CNN,” responded the rabble-rousing conservative filmmaker. “I’m giving them away because I’m a nice guy and I like giving stuff away.”

Maloney is most notable for producing the James O’Keefe-esque documentary Indoctrinate U about political correctness at American universities.

    Not suprising.

You are right, those liberal nutjobs will take any and everything offered for free.

  • Anonymous

I’d take one, could probably sell it on ebay or craigslist for a nice profit. Capitalism. In this case both parties benefit, the guy getting the bong and the conservative guy gets whatever bogus ad hominem footage he needs to paint all OWS protestors as the same person.

  • http://gregingleright.weebly.com/ Greg

    Perfect response.

  • Stuartbrowning

Evan Maloney is doing a great service by covering the “Occupy Wall Street” misfits and losers as they really are – rather than the sanitized version presented by the mainstream media. – Stuart Browning

Just more proof that ALL Republicans are compulsive liars.

  • Baba booey

Joey Boots yet another Howard Stern guy. I suggest google Joey Boots and cocaine under images and see what type of guy he really is.

  • lazzzlo

Ha ha ha!  I think it is funny as hell.  How many bongs were accepted?

Even so…no crime there.  It’s not like he was encouraging people to use their illegal drugs ;)

  • lazzzlo

Where did that quid pro quo come from exactly?

  • Anonymous

You seem to be misusing quid pro quo. Ask somebody to help you.

  • lazzzlo

Exactly, eBay is the perfect market of capitalism.  Don’t see anyone trying to occupy that service.

  • lazzzlo

I doubt it seriously.  one action equates another in an equal exchange.

  • Anonymous

Nobody had to take the stuff or keep the stuff if they didn’t want it.

All this does is prove some of the points made that at least some of the OWS people smoke pot.

Which is ultimately unimportant and really says little about the OWS people or the movement. It’s like saying you judge people because they drink beer or smoke cigarettes.

    Bad habit?Maybe so.Defining aspect of a life?No.

It’s not like he was giving out hypodermic needles and crack pipes.

  • unmutual

Mediaite has time and room for crap like this but won’t cover the violence at Occupy Oakland or any of the alleged rapes at three different Occupy protests.

  • lazzzlo

Ok, for what?  Or are you just going to call me a moron?

  • lazzzlo

Personally, it is ambush video taping.  But I think it is more to prove a point.  I’m an ex-stoner if that matters.

However, it does prove a couple of points.

The crowd is less concerned with the semantics of their cause than they are with getting a buzz (illegal).

The all too important optics serve as a rebuttal to the slanders that the Tea Party crowd received.

Comparing the two is like night and day.

  • Anonymous

You don’t understand the words you are using. Ask for help from somebody who is not a moron.

  • lazzzlo

When I was a young’un I went to Dead shows, punk shows blah blah blah.
I always dressed in shorts and an IZOD crew shirt with a nice haircut.  I did it to watch the crowd reaction.I liked the music and love live performances…that’s why I was there.  But I was always amazed at how many in the crowd were exclusionary because “you weren’t like them”.

    It’s fun mocking a mob.

  • Leandrorosamarques

Thanks for sharing this video. I wasn’t aware of this guy. I will keep one eye for him and his crew.

  • Pablo

Get caught on tape? Doing stuff he was filming?

Ha! I caught you posting an article, James!

    PWNED!!!!!!!

  • Pablo

That is odd, isn’t it? All this OWS love, and not a word about the Occupy Riot in Oakland.

  • Anonymous

in all likelihood he was filming them holding the items, not him giving them out.

  • Anonymous

This reminds me of the time I passed out fertilizer and house hold cleaning products at a Tea Party.

  • Pablo

I used to love Dead shows. Ventura was the best.

  • Pablo

And you base that assumption on what?

He was asking questions and giving stuff out to people who answered. Which, if you paid attention to the video, they talked quite a bit about it.

  • Anonymous

It goes both ways.  I live in Orange County but work in high voltage electricity construction.  So if (ok ok, WHEN lol) I go to the bar after work, I always feel the stares because I’m not dressed for a job interview.  People in groups tend to be exclusionary (excluded: cults and pyramid schemes).

  • Anonymous

Uh…if he’s reporting how things really are, then why is he actively distorting the picture?  If the picture was being “sanitized,” he wouldn’t need to hand people props for his photos, would he?

  • Kreamedcorn

Iran Contra Scandal didn’t that have something to do with the republicans.

  • Anonymous

You mean where the police fractured a veteran’s skull?

  • lazzzlo

I think I saw 20 w/ Garcia during the ’80s.  Last one I saw was the riot in Indianapolis (Deer Creek)  Jerry passed away later that summer.

Edit..that was in the mid ’90s.

    hahaha…I enjoyed that scene.

  • lazzzlo

Of course, but people judge and groups are antithetical to individuals.

  • lazzzlo

    And that’s the thing.

You are trying to equate one thing with another.

However, the Tea Party dudes might have gone for bullets or guns or Jack Daniels.

  • http://mediamatters.org/ Leedog

Typical Conservative trying to make an ignorant point!! Doesn’t the guy have better things to do, such as go after minorities in need of assistance??

  • lazzzlo

I know you mean well.  But there is a difference between the two groups.

  • Anonymous

I believe it is Maloney that’s equating one thing with another.  Satire my friend…

  • Pablo

What is the ignorant point? Why is it ignorant? Have you seen his film?

  • Anonymous

What an absolute scumbag!  Expect much more of this from the right as time goes on.  They have no ethics, no morals and no conscious.  They need to be exposed at every turn.  November 5th is not far off.

Free bongs and pizza for $9.99

  • lazzzlo

Ok and that is fair enough.  I don’t want to see anyone hurt.  The cops just have to do their job.  When you resist you challenge.

It will get this way with a mob.  There is nobody who is your friend in a mosh pit.  You will get pushed in ways you are uncomfortable…normally to the front.

    It’s a mob.

  • Pablo

Isn’t that always the way? Always rioting, those police.

  • Anonymous

For the most part I agree.  But more to your point, I watched a Dead DVD from Alpine Valley (10 minutes from where I grew up) this past Saturday. I’m too young to have been around in their hey day, but my old man had quite the record collection and an affinity for the classics.  It was like rest: awesome!

  • Anonymous

It wasn’t a mosh pit they were gassing women, children, veterans and the disabled. Have you seen the photo/video of the protesters trying to help the women in the wheelchair out of the tear gas fog?

  • Pablo

The right wing Oakland Police or the Right wing Oakland mayor? You’re a joke, kitty.

  • Anonymous

    Sure I am.
You want point out where I said anything about the politics of the Oakland police or mayor?

  • Anonymous

yeah those children, the cops should have arrested the parents for child endangerment

  • Pablo

No, it wasn’t a mosh pit. It was a 500+ mob looking for a confrontation with the cops. That’s even dumber than moshing.

  • Pablo

“Oakland Police Critically Injure Iraq War Vet During Occupy Marchhttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/…”

Did you have some point in mentioning that while babbling about “the right”?

  • Anonymous

“The crowd is less concerned with the semantics of their cause than they are with getting a buzz (illegal)”

Hmm, the video doesn’t show that.  You don’t know if it was 2 people or 500 accepting paraphernalia, so you are taking liberties by suggesting “the crowd” was acting like a collective group of glazed over stoners looking for weed.  The fact that a self-admitted stoner called out a guy for passing out bongs and rolling papers (and refused to accept any himself) says something about this conservative filmmaker’s* motives (* = cameraman-looking-for-work).  Not to mention, it flies in the face of your overly-broad generalization of “the crowd.”  As you said yourself:  individuals judge.

  • lazzzlo

Dude, I did the 3 day Alpine of ’89 while doing a grand tour of the East/Midwest.

    It was very good.

  • lazzzlo

Anytime you have a group it will eventually break down without leaders.

  • lazzzlo

    Hello Kitty,

You have to admit that each and everyone in the Oakland group was not acting in the best interests of the “collective” goals of the un-announced goals of OWS.

Some acted poorly and mobs get unruly.

I honestly am trying to tell you that very large groups of people can work together.

But if you lump a disparate group of people together that each have their own agenda…it will turn out violent.

  • Anonymous

I believe it was the ’89 show I watched!  I hope the area treated you well, it’s nice and relaxed up there.  Nothing personal in my responses by the way, just friendly discussion as I’m sure you understand ;)

  • Anonymous

Yes.  To report it.  Try reading without projecting.

  • Anonymous

Well technically to use eBay you are occupying space on their server.  I’m a huge dork…

  • lazzzlo

No worries, I was thinking about Alpine recently because that was sorta one of the watermarks of the Dead fests.  There were some ODs and deaths and that whole weird carnival changed.  I did around 14 shows that year.

After that it never was the same again.  I was in my late 20s then and was a prep…I did most of their tour in a Jag convertible with a nurse that had lots of drugs.

I can’t honestly say that I never have partied. I am visible on that DVD.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Adam-Hemmer/1061080208 Adam Hemmer

Further evidence of how out of touch the right is. Didn’t I just read a story like two days ago saying over 50% favor legalization?

  • lazzzlo

So what’s the problem?  Legalize the drug.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1741912368 Dom Augustine

then why would he hand out JUST free drug paraphernalia?  why not blankets, shoes, food, etc.?  he’s looking for a GOTCHA photo so he can slam the protesters

  • Anonymous

Seconded.  Can you imagine how many jobs it would create?

  • Pablo

Yeah, but they invite you to do it and when they decide you’re gone, you’re gone.

  • Pablo

If you’re going to chime into a conversation, it would be helpful if you’d follow it.

  • Pablo

    As it ever was…

  • Anonymous

…and potentially injured him for life?  Where a “peace” officer attacked protesters who went to the aid of the injured vet, Scott Olsen?

About this story, the fact that the cameraman has to entrap and edit in order to create a narrative that then entraps the ignorant with false ideas says everything about the lack of validity of the right-wing ideas that they promote.  In other words, the right wing operatives need to use lies in order to maintain power over their ignorant followers.  They must be terrified that their deceived followers are going to begin to see the truth embodied in OWS motivation and ideals.

I remember taking the family to Hatteras one Summer and along the way I made a stop in either Delaware or Maryland at a rest stop because the boy had to pee. Lo and behold we stumbled upon the entire Dead Head concert goer entourage, lol. I’m walking my son to the bathroom, holding his hand, and when we got near this Volkswagen van the back door bursts open and when the smoke cleared all these Dead Heads came flying out. They had customized the van with a piece of plywood forming a second floor so they could cram more bodies into it. That rest stop was basically a Dead concert. They were crawling all over the place. What a sight.

Yes, those horrible, terrible, violent police. The same union card carrying police that Obama keeps praising when he’s talking about this jobs bill.

So what is it, Bob? Are the police good, hard working Americans deserving of Obama’s praise, or out of control violence inflicting thugs?

  • lazzzlo

    Lol, that is very true.

Just revisiting some of my comments.

  • lazzzlo

Fiona..look beyond the names “Democrats” and “Republicans”.

His work is just indicative of amateur photo-journalism that any producer will sell if there is 1 corroboration.

Do you really think this is anything new?

    How did Michael Moore start?

  • Anonymous

1897 – Hearst artist Frederick Remington sent a cable to New York from Cuba.  It read: ”There will be no war.”
William Randolph Hearst cabled back “You provide the pictures, I’ll provide the war.”

Cannot understand why any free thinking human being would believe word one that is spewed by any jackass just because some other moron put them in front of or behind a camera.  There is a story that I was told many many years ago that some tribal people (Apache, Arapaho, Iroquois) that believed that the camera stole men’s souls.  If you look at youtube and the quality of the people in the media then you might be inclined to side with those ancient peoples.

And just to be cliche every bastage in the media should have, tatooed on their empty effing foreheads, Stan Lee’s most famous line “With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility”.  It would have to be on their foreheads and in reverse because the mirror is the one thing they actually pay attention to.

In california an estimated 200,000 jobs and 100 million dollars in tax revenue for the past year, until the Obama administration decided that it was time to get re-elected so he  has to act tough on crime and has sent cease and desist orders to the vast majority of dispensaries and collectives.

So far in the past two weeks an approximated 123,000 jobs were destroyed and millions of dollars flushed down the toilet.

Oh, and just to add to the confusion, 2010-2011 has apparently been the best year as far as low illegal immigration and a decrease in drug arrests.  Now some 600,000 legally registered patients are unable to get medicine in a safe and controlled environment.  Gotta love that caring awesomeness of the democrat in chief.  Plus, just last week the California Medical Association, the largest medical association in the United States, gave its support to the way California had been handling the whole medical marijuana thing.  Again, gotta love them dems and how much they care ROFLMAO.

I hate to say it but these people (as in the people in the video) have every reason to be upset with this stupid film maker.  Not everyone in OWS are stoner college kids, some of actual professional people that are upset with what’s going on in their country.  These people don’t hate the USA like some of you idiots think, no the very opposite.  The want to see their fellow Americans be able to go to college, afford health care and be able to have a good life like our ancestors were promised when they came to America.

Wake up people saying the left is a bunch of stoner hippies is just as idiotic as people saying people on the right are all a bunch of bible thumping rednecks.  I sway more to the left, but my parents and most of my good friends are right.   Yet I don’t care, people are allowed to have their own opinions, BUT shouldn’t be stupid about it and just spew random things.  Let’s be more logical, let’s stop bickering with each other because it’s doing nothing but causing more trouble in our country.  It makes me sad that the only time our country can come together is when some disaster like 9/11 happens.

  • lazzzlo

    Seriously, that’s great…what’s your point?

I shake my head and hang my head because of the crap that I have to parse just to explain my own point of view.

If conservatives in this country WEREN’T a bunch of pro-government frauds, marijuana wouldn’t be illegal and this moran passing out bongs wouldn’t be the least bit newsworthy.  Unfortunately, modern day American conservatives have no problem supporting legislation that infringes on our liberty, personal freedoms, and free markets.  As long as it keeps drugs illegal for those damn hippies, right?

The right in this country have sacrificed their principles for pure partisanship and love for government overreach.  This is why they didn’t oppose the Patriot Act as liberals did.  It’s also why they have discarded their anti-bailout sentiment….remember when the TeaBaggers opposed the bank bailouts?  Yeah, it’s been awhile.

If you support drug prohibition, the Patriot ACT or the bank bailouts, you aren’t pro-liberty and you certainly don’t support free markets.  Social conservativism and fiscal conservativism are not compatible.

Yep typical occupy BS.  “…after being hit in the head with a police projectile.”.  But lets go further down shall we?  “”He was just hit by a projectile,” said Shannon, who did not attend the
march but heard about the incident from eyewitnesses. “He wasn’t near a
police officer when it happened.”".  So he was hit by something, just wasn’t near a cop when it happened.  But lets look at the HuffPo BS a little bit more.  “New video posted to YouTube suggests that Olsen was hit at close range with a tear-gas canister.”.  Does it?  The video doesn’t show him dropping.  Just a narrator saying that “firing” a tear gas canister at someones face can be dangerous.  Except look at the arcs of tear gas.  They’re not being fired, they’re being thrown.  Nor do any cops in the video appear to be holding anything to fire a tear gas canister.  Bean bag?  Except they are meant for close quarters and he wasn’t near a cop at the time.

Exactly.  Boots is know to Stern listeners as a drug addict and for collecting disability checks.  Since he is now apparently capable of working, hopefully he is no longer a leech on the system.  But somehow I imagine that Joey still claims a “disability” and like most of the parasites of these Occupy gatherings he won’t be giving up his taxpayer funded freebies any time soon.
