So remember how yesterday, it sounded a lot like former Miami Dolphins player Dan Marino was part of a lawsuit against the NFL over concussions sustained during his football career?
Well, funny story.
It turns out, according to the Sun-Sentinel, that Marino is withdrawing the lawsuit because, a source close to Marino says, “It was never Marino’s intention to initiate litigation in this case, but to ensure that in the event he had adverse health consequences down the road, he would be covered with health benefits. They are working to correct the error.” (Emphasis mine.)
So Marino never intended to sue the NFL in the first place, which makes it odd, then, that his name was added to the lawsuit in the first place. And Miami Herald columnist Armando Salguero threw out another reason that Marino may have backed off.
I'm told Dan Marino did not expect "backlash" he heard over suit. Questions abt timing post CBS, possibility of clouding future with Fins.
