Dick Perry, Not Rick Perry, Near Top Of Arizona Republican Primary Ballot

Meet Dick Perry. The Texas Governor? No, that’s Rick. Tucson-based musician Al “Dick” Perry has earned a highly-visible fourth position on the Arizona Republican Primary ballot. The better-known Perry will appear much further down the list.

According to Talking Point Memo‘s Nick Martin:

Perry’s name will appear far down the list in the No. 17 spot after a random drawing of the 23 GOP candidates who qualified for the ballot. But worst of all for the governor, the Tucson Weekly reports, a local guitarist named Al “Dick” Perry who’s running a longshot campaign for the nomination scored the No. 4 spot.

Martin reports that the Arizona Secretary of State is worried that Dick Perry might befuddle primary goers. “I hope that doesn’t confuse our voters,” Ken Bennett told reporter Jim Nintzel. “Hopefully they’ll notice the distinction between Rick Perry and Al ‘Dick’ Perry.”

*Eric Cartman voice* I’m afraid I don’t see the difference.

There’s not a dime’s worth of difference between a Rick Perry and a Dick.

How did a musician have enough money to get on the ballot…Cost $75,000 I was told to get on. If that’s true I would like to see a finaancial staement of the guitar player.

It doesn’t cost anything at all to get on the ballot. All you have to do is fill out a two-page form, have it notarized, and send it off to the Arizona secretary of state.

I wonder who (e.g., Romney and establishment) is behind this?
