I don’t think anybody is saying “Obama is the reason why American lost.” Rather, they’re saying “despite of Obama, America lost.” In other words, Obama (who apparently thought his presence would ‘seal the deal,’ hence the last-minute decision to go) was rebuffed by the rest of the world, and isn’t apparently as great as he think he is. As Drudge said, “The Ego Has Landed.”

I wish these people blaming the loss of the Olympics on Obama would explain to me why the competing cities spend millions of dollars preparing detailed presentations of how they would handle the Olympics if they were chosen if they are actually awarded based upon speeches taking a few minutes. The choice of a venue is a very complex matter encompassing plans for event sites, housing competitors, housing audiences, transporting both to and from relevant sites as well as the competence evidenced by the skill with which the presentation was put together. Then there are the more sentimental aspects, who the judges are, whom they know, whether the applicant’s part of the world has been included too much or too little. I do think the latter was a factor this time, it seems to me that it’s time to include South America.

I guess Obama doesn’t have the “magic touch” that all his supporters thought he had. Not only did Chicago fail to win, it was the first city to be eliminated. Even the appearance of his wife and Oprah didn’t make any difference.

Most foreign countries just don’t like America, period. All of Obama’s apologizing and bowing and grandiloquent rhetoric doesn’t amount to a hill of beans. We are a country free from government intrusions into our lives, we are successful and rich and maybe a bit vulgar, but we are America. Why on earth Barack Obama wants to change all that is beyond me. It will all end failure and maybe even a Third World War.
