Dueling Sex Watch: HuffPo and Daily Beast Battle over Bikinis
I’ve been seeing a lot of Phoebe Cates‘ breasts lately and it took me some time to figure out why. However, as I was tooling around the Internets this morning looking to what was what in the media world and it suddenly became clear, I was not in fact seeing double, HuffPo and The Daily Beast are both featuring strangely similar bikini slide shows on their home pages.
And by similar we mean practically identical. Halle Berry? Check. Princess Leia? Check. Bo Derek? Check. Is it possible to plagiarize iconic bikini shots?
According to the time stamps The Daily Beast’s slide show went up last Friday whilst HuffPo’s, which comes with a poll, no less(!), posted yesterday. Except not really.
A quick glance through my computer’s cache (see! bikini bait does work!) reveals that HuffPo has gone this bikini route before. Back in May just prior to the Memorial Day weekend they ran an almost identical slide show. Only this go-round they’ve switched out Farrah Fawcett, Borat, and Barack Obama and stocked up on the likes of Angelina Jolie, and Kate Bosworth, whilst the Beast has remained co-ed. Phoebe Cates remains in both; highschool fantasies apparently never grow old.
“I’m With Coco Artist” Hits Jackpot, Sort Of

The Conan O'Brien effect is vast: Ever since the late night host began his fight with Jay Leno for NBC's coveted time-slot, the "I'm With Coco" campaign has taken over Facebook, Twitter, and every other social-networking platform you can think of. O'Brien's own Twitter account made waves went it first went up, and then again last week when he followed his first fan - Sara Killen - who then became a micro-celebrity herself. Now the man behind "I'm With Coco" image has stepped out from behind his Banksy-esque silence to talk about his new-found success as the official designer for Conan's tour posters.
Obama Speaks At George Mason University: “The Time For Health Reform Is Now”
Yesterday President Barack Obama was met with thunderous applause at George Mason University, where he delivered a rousing speech about this weekend's "historic event" in health care. We honestly haven't seen Obama in such top form since he was campaigning, and it was nothing short of inspiring. Almost makes you think the health care issue really will be solved in the next 48 hours! Watch the full video and an excerpt of the transcript below.
