ESPN Treats Favre Signing Like Car Chase, Jay Glazer Deserves Major Dap
This is ESPN News from this afternoon, following Brett Favre‘s SUV like his trip from the airport to the Minnesota Vikings practice facility was like a damn car chase on a cable news network.
Yes, Brett Favre is back – and now the non-stop hijacking of the NFL preseason can begin. All that breathless coverage of the “will he or won’t he storyline” is over. Now the ridiculous over-coverage has started. Oh – and FoxSports.com’s Jay Glazer deserves an apology from his doubters, since he was right on yesterday.
Glazer had the story yesterday, in a report that was acknowledged, but only half-heartedly, on sports sources like Deadspin.com and PTI. It almost seemed like his own site wasn’t behind him, as the piece included the caveat early on, “this is not one of those ‘FOXSports.com has learned …’ news scoops. Instead, it’s a picture that has been painted for me and a prediction I’m making after spending my time with Zygi Wilf’s squad. My prediction couldn’t be more emphatic.”
An “emphatic” prediction – that was completely right, and reported on as such during Favre’s wall-to-wall drive to the field.
And he’s still got that tear in his rotator cuff. And he’s starting Friday. And on, and on, and on…
