Completely unrelated but someone NEEDS to make a movie about the guy who created Wonder Woman. He also invented the polygraph! Incredible!

Fox News, owner Rupert Murdoch does not have an American root. Is Fox News a plant of the new world order? Murdoch was there last week selling Immigration reform, that’s going on?

While it has little to do with the costume change and more to do with Wonder Woman’s original television mission… My daughter has stepped her way through most, if not all the episodes via (what used to be and still redirects from) video.aol.

If you’d like to see some delicious feminist-themed camp, I strongly recommend watching the pilot and though the series lost it’s blatant attempts at humor fairly quickly, there’s a lot of feminism in the first season or two. Also, though it’d take me a few minutes to find it, but there’s a wonderful (1st season) episode which could be summarized as her showing that all the world’s problems are caused by men.

If you’re looking for something to watch this weekend, I highly recommend letting it stream.

Oh and to clarify, while all of the episodes are wonderful, the pilot is where I’d begin.

Also, I should point out that when my daughter first started stepping her way through the series (and my wife or I would often join her), there was the common issue of having to “click to continue” and occasional dropped signals thatwould require an F5 and a fast-forward.

I’m not sure if the issues have been addressed in the new AOL player, but I my kids have watched a lot of video through the domain and I can’t recall hearing complaints lately and either way, Wonder Woman is worth the effort.

Me1Ranger, I’ll give you the GI Joe thing. Even though it was clearly just so the movie would sell overseas, that was a direct change in the characters. And with Captain America, Marvel has had a seeming liberal bent with a lot of their stories so I’ll give you that one too.
But this is different. This is nothing but a costume change (one that, let’s be honest, will probably be changed back in a year). It has nothing to do with America or politics. They’re just trying to give people something to be furious about.

As for my Kool-Aide, I take it in a tumbler with a fifth of bourbon.

Not to sound to comic book geeky here, but most of the comic book traditional super heroes were considered very patriotic, often times fighting side by side with the American military. In fact, Wonder Woman and many other characters were created during the World War II era specifically as patriots.

Wonder Woman is introduced to America by way of Steve Trevor, an American intelligence officer whose plane crashes on her island. Diana wins the right to him and he brings her back to the states to eventually fight alongside the American military against the Nazi’s and the other Axis powers.

So while she may not be American, she is certainly an American hero in the comics and her suit defines her. She may not be from America, but she is as defined by the American flag suit as much as is Captain America. It’s nearly the equivalent of Superman without his cape, he doesn’t need it to fly but it is a huge part of his image.

On the subject of Superman; he is another famous hero who is “not American” yet whose slogan until very recently was “fighting for truth, justice and the American way”. The producers of the last Superman movie decided to make it “truth, justice and all that other stuff”.

At the risk of sounding conspiratorial, yes I do believe the changes in our atypical patriotic heroes are due to Hollywood trying to strip away anything patriotic so as to appease the left and Europe as there is the common conception that anything “American” is unpopular these days.

As for Wonder Woman’s clothing…maybe the men at FOX just miss her hotpants. After all, the old Soviet Era flag has a star…several Muslim country flags have a star or stars….and her tiara sometimes sported a RED star !!!
I’m not that much into comics….my info here came from a couple minutes of research on the internet. (Not really a waste of my time since I’m retired.) Just seems like a non-story from FOX.

@ericseba: I don’t know the comics, but I watched the show first run and I’ve re-watched a lot of them via the website that I previously linked.

I don’t know how true to source it was and if necessary, I’d have to look for the specific episode, but I remember one from the first (fighting Nazis) season, where she felt her island may have to take a side in WWII and argued that America was better than the Nazis, but her mother insisted on being neutral and they only used limited force to protect themselves from a German attack.

(Not to sound all TV-geeky or anything)

OK – I just consulted TV.com and the German attack on Paradise Island was part 2 of “The Feminum Mystique” and like the rest of the series, it and part 1 are available for streaming.

Marketing “men” at DC are dumping her origin and look to make a buck off of a future film franchise by catering to America-haters in the global market. I know you all will probably say this is stupid but, I’m not watching the movie because of the changes, to me when you do a movie on a classic character for example spider man, super man, bat man, and so on, you should not be changing the costumes and or character, it’s a classic, wonder woman is one of the classics and changing the costume, changes everything she represent , it changes the character completely, this is not the real wonder woman, she’s a fake.. They should just call her Super Ga or maybe stupid gal now not wonder woman. It’s disgusting she looks slutty, ghetto , sleazy & just plain disgusting. I used to get mad when they made their false statements till I realized, that fox viewers are  like the USA military drones, they act on command but do not think on their own. they follow orders with out understanding the reasons or the consequences their actions bring. I am for WW keeping her costume as is just because i grew up seeing her in that way , but I don’t see the connection for the fox news story that WW outfit takes away her patriotism, after all she is not from the USA. she is a Greek and at that half goddess and is from Themiscyra” a hidden island from mankind. if you ever watched the show and even the recent cartoon movie of WW or read the comics which really best give her story, the amazons send one to represent them and WW outfit is made after the country’s flag she is visiting to show respect, but not because she is patriotic to that country’s values unless they merit hers which of cause one could ague the USA did. now with the USA hating foreigners and not wanting them in our country then i would ague that the USA no longer honors WW values for equal rights for all mankind, women and man, in fact it is WW who rebel against her mother Queen Hyppolyte’s hate and distrust for men because Ari’s the god of war used Queen Hyppolyte to produce him a son for war and pretended to love the queen, needless to say Queen hyppolte wanted to kill Ari’s and was about to kill him when Zeus the god of gods stooped her, but Hera” Zeus wife and goddess”  promised the queen a baby which was wonder women and a place to escape mankind’s evils which was the island of Themiscyra or as in the 70;s TV show Paradise island, any ways the queen after that wanted nothing to do with mankind and it is WW who go to America not only to return Steve who crashed on Themiscyra to the USA and her other mission was to bring the Amazons and mankind together again  ,so yes WW would never accept the USA in the way they treat foreigners, she would also be sadden by the way each American fighting against each American as far as politics go then the USA and that would not represent her values . if WW was real, she would be ashamed of the way America acts and see shows such as fox news as the hate propaganda it is. Just imagined how bad a interview with ww on fox would go when she lasso the men reports and forced them to tell ther truth, haha now that would be funny.
