From “Demon Sheep” To “I Am Not A Witch” – GOP Ad Guy Explains Himself
Republican consultant and ad expert Fred Davis has created some of the most memorable campaign ads of the last few years. He was the guy behind “Demon Sheep” earlier this year, as well as the ‘Obama Celebrity’ ad during the 2008 campaign.
He talked about his latest viral sensation, Christine O’Donnell‘s “I am not a witch” ad, on Parker Spitzer.
“What exactly were you thinking when you came up with that idea?” asked Kathleen Parker bluntly.
“I thought it was important, and Christine thought it was important, to draw a line in the sand and say, ‘okay, that was before, this is after now, let’s move on to what’s really important to the people of Delaware,’” said Davis.
Davis said he “had dinner with her one night and filmed her the next day.” Eliot Spitzer asked whether her past comments made him think she might not be the type of person who should have a job as a U.S. Senator, Davis admitted he “honestly did think that,” but in five minutes of meeting her, he “figured out I was wrong.”
Davis promises more ads in the final two weeks of this race, and as O’Donnell edges to within single digits, the “I’m You” ad could end up being the turning point for her.
Check out the interview from CNN.com below, including what Davis would tell Pres. Obama to do if he was making an ad for the Commander-in-chief:
