bottom line, this video was funny in an f’d up way. knowing the circumstances makes the whole thing tragic, but lets move on as ms. mullur has. people are human, mistakes happen. nobody is perfect. ..next cliche…

this is not news now. it was never news,..except for the few tragi-comic minutes of the live broadcast (btw where’s the news director…is there a news director?…i know nothing about an anchor’s job, except from anchorman…which is awesome). how good is you local anchorman anyway? i checked out some of ms. mullur’s work. she excellent and shouldn’t be doing local news.

lets move on to real news…ms. mullur?

What get’s me is that HuffPo would bring this up years later.Don’t they have actual news and issues to discuss?Or are they just trying to distract us from them?Shame on HuffPo especially because this very article should be there.

That was a classy letter Mullur wrote. But no big deal — it happens to everyone eventually, and it obviously wasn’t personal. I’ve seen lots of anchors blow takes or have a laughing fit — such is the nature of live TV. (My favorite was when an anchor I worked with in a top 30 market station read a story about Barney’s head getting ripped off. She went off on a laughing jag that must have lasted three or four minutes, absolutely shutting down the newscast. After the show, she immediately degaussed the aircheck so it wouldn’t get out anywhere…and that was before YouTube, even.)

I can’t think of a better development in the TV news business than YouTube. Whether it’s New York or New Bedford, I think it’s fabulous that these embarrassing moments live on for all to see and comment on.

News bloopers are some of the funniest things online. One of the funniest is the Utica, NY weatherman ("Matt") taping a promo for an upcoming newscast who without warning blurts out "F----g Mother Wh*re! S***!" and then serenely stares into the camera with a wide grin. That video has been viewed tens of millions of times, copied by dozens of YouTube users, and is often mischaracterized as an attack of Tourette's Syndrome. In fact, what happened was that the newscast he and the news anchor was teasing was for the evening newscast at 10:00 pm. After the news guy finished his part, Matt the weatherman had gotten through his part flawlessly, but then ended by telling the audience to tune in for the news at noon. Once the word "noon" came out of his mouth instead of "ten," he realized he had blown it, and would have to do another take. That's when he started spewing profanity. There's no evidence that blooper was actually broadcast.
