Now This: Hillary Clinton For Secretary Of Defense?

‘What will Hillary Clinton‘s next job will be’ has become a bit of a favorite media parlor game of late. Ever since President Obama‘s numbers really tanked speculation has ramped that she could launch her own Presidential campaign in 2012 (probably unlikely), or alternately that she will be tapped by Obama to replace Joe Biden as VP (unlikely but possible).

Here’s the latest. When Robert Gates steps down as Secretary of Defense, something he says he plans to do next year, Hillary would make for a great replacement. Here’s what Chuck Todd twittered out yesterday:

If I were setting odds at some Irish bookmaking web site, I’d make Hillary Clinton the early favorite to replace Gates at the Pentagon.

Hillary to Defense proverbial “win-win” for WH and Clinton. Adds to her nat sec resume if she wants to run in ’16. Breaks a glass ceiling.

And if Clinton accepts the Pentagon post, quiets ridiculous conservative-opinion driven storyline of Hillary challenging Obama in ’12.

Admittedly this seems a far more likely scenario than the others that have been bandied around. One thing that is clear: this country is far from being done with the Clintons.

    And Bill for Surgeon General . ” It’s okay , baby , I’m a doctor ” .

Her next job will be running as the Dem nominee for President in 2012.

Of course. This is par for the course with this administration. I mean, she’s got tons of experience in the defense field.

I think she may “corkscrew” into the position!

“[Hillary Clinton] will be tapped by Obama to replace Joe Biden as VP (unlikely but possible)” GM

Actually, very possible. If Pres. Obama is faced with a difficult reelection in 2012, there is a good chance that Joe Biden will decide to “retire”, and Ms. Clinton will become the VP candidate. The quid pro quo would be Obama’s support for her candidacy for president in 2016.

This scenario is especially likely to occur if Sarah Palin emerges as the Republican nominee in 2012. The Democrats will need to challenge her for women voters.

The radical Emily’s List is alive to the threat Ms. Palin poses:

“The Democratic group EMILY’s List is targeting Sarah Palin and the 49 candidates she has endorsed so far in the 2010 midterms with the launch of a new campaign….”

Amazing. Sarah Palin’s not even running for anything yet.

Speculation on the Left that Hilary will be Secretary of Defense is just a coded plea that she not put her sights on the White House. Obama’s approval rating is now in the low 40s. If it falls into the 30s — which seems inevitable given his inability to come to grips with the basics of leadership and the dictates common sense — he will no doubt invite challenges from other prominent Democrats.

Oh, please, please, please let Hillary Clinton becone Secretary of Defense!
You can’t make this up .

Hillary may be dumb but she is not that dumb. She won’t be on a ticket with Obama anytime anywhere. That would be the kiss of death. She has one last chance to run, that is 2012. She is ageing so fast she will look 90 in 2016.

  • JimBob

    SHE LOOKS 90 NOW !!!

    Ouch!

She will be 65 in 2012- that will be her last chance; there is no way she would agree to be VP in 2012- that would be a demotion.

  • Azarkhan

“She will be 65 in 2012″

Reagan was 70 when he became President.
