Gibbs: There Are More People At Jones’ Pressers Than Listen To His Sermons

In the press briefing today Robert Gibbs was asked by Wendell Goler whether he thinks Pastor Jones and his “flock” are getting more attention than they deserve. Gibbs was measured in his response, but essentially said, yes. Though he used more words.

I don’t own a television network. The fact that the man has more people at his press conferences than he does in his pews at a Sunday service is an illuminating thing….I don’t want to single anyone out and I shouldn’t but parking a TV camera in front of a banner on the side of a truck and giving lift to something like that, I think there comes a point where you have to wonder what is the utility of this.

That point, alas, was probably sometime last week. Watch below.

I am having a hard time understanding Gibbs’ position. On the one hand, he thinks the media is giving this nutty pastor too much attention. On the other hand, the White House has raised this into a national issue by the intensity of its commentary.

Let’s be honest about what is going on here. The Left put this event into the media spotlight as a way of trying to score political points. Hence, Keith Olbermann’s attempt to link Sarah Palin, etc. to the Koran burning. But now all the leading Republicans have repudiated this event, and so the Left has gained nothing politically, but has made this inconsequential man and his tiny congregation into the biggest news story of the month.

Congrats, Dems and mainstream media, you really played this one brilliantly! This whole event should have been a non-issue, but now you have turned it into a foreign policy fiasco. Way to go!

It has been the Leftwing MSM who took a small story about a church of 50 people and blew up the story TO PROVE that there was “Islamophobia” in the U.S. to prove their points on the Ground Zero Mosque.

If you remember it was the LIBERALS and the LIBERAL press who pushed the Abu Grb photos AFTER THE MILITARY ASKED THEM NOT PUBLISH THEM…remember?

Then it was the LIBERAL Time’s magazine who published the FAKE STORY of a soldier putting a Quran in the toilet, which led to murder of several people. They were doing that to embarrass Bush only to backfire and it led to the murder of several innocent Christians in the Muslim world.

This time it was the LIBERAL MSM, wanting to prove there was anti-Muslim sentiment in the U.S to help out Imam Rauf’s bid to build his VICTORY Ground Zero Mosque, and to validate their side, that the U.S. was anti-Islamic who pushed the story of the Quran burning of A TINY CHURCH, but Liberals don’t have any shame.

So once again the Liberals, to win poliitical points, have put innocent people over seas in danger, and our soldiers, to win points…even if it means death of people. Then try to blame it on others. Who was pushing the story on in the MSM?…why it was mainly MSM and CNN and Liberal talking heads.

Then now Liberals are defending Imam Rauf, even when he came out and said “radicals” would attack the U.S.if the Victory mosque was not build. Like the radicals weren’t already attacking us.

Classy statement…that’s why America love you Gibbs and we love your boss?

And there are more people in Jones’ congregation than those who think you’re doing a good job.
