Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) joined the growing chorus Thursday afternoon. Speaking with Jake Tapper on The Lead, the Pennsylvania Senator — who’s generally not prone to hyperbole — didn’t hold back when Tapper asked him to weigh-in on the President’s Twitter attack.
“This is maddening,” Toomey said. “It’s maddeningly frustrating.”
Toomey’s criticism echoes many others on the subject, who believe Trump’s behavior is not befitting a person who occupies the Oval Office.
“It’s beneath the President of the United States, or at least it should be,” Toomey said. “And it’s a distraction.”
Like others in Congress who have had to answer questions about the President’s social media dispatches, Toomey considers the attention being focused on the subject to be harmful to the GOP’s legislative goals.
“[R]eally, ultimately, it starts to undermine the President’s ability to get his agenda done.”
