Gov. Bob McDonnell Makes Brief Remarks After Conviction

Former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell and his wife were found guilty today on multiple corruption charges. Their sentencing will be carried out in January, and McDonnell’s attorney plans to appeal. After the conviction today, McDonnell made brief remarks on his conviction.

Since there was a media frenzy outside the courthouse, there are multiple reports on the McDonnells upon leaving the courtroom. They took separate cars, and Maureen McDonnell said nothing.

But the former governor made two brief remarks. Firstly, he sent this message to the media: “Thank you all for the way you’ve handled this.” And secondly, of the conviction itself, McDonnell said, “All I can say is my trust belongs in the Lord.”
