Oh for Christ's sake, it'll just be another glowing infomercial for "Teh One" that they'll re-run 24-7/365 on the "All Things Baracky Channel" debuting next year from The White House News Network.

You guys are really gonna regret giving Barry this much latitude, because as always, a Republican will be in the Oval Office again someday, and Congress will shift back as well and all the "powers" and "latitude" you've given these morons will fall into the hands of people you don't like at all.

Picture the media war from the white house, only it's President Palin, or some other Republican you loathe threatening the voices at NBC,CBS,ABC, MSNBC etc...what goes around comes around and your "tolerant liberal leaders" are setting a precedent you ain't gonna like at all when you are on the receiving end, and as history shows, you will be on the receiving end again.

Ted Silliman says:
November 1, 2009 at 6:52 pm

OUCH... oh, OUCH... Teddy, you hurt my feelings so bad.

Anyway... as to the substance of what you said (you know, the stuff before you let the voices in your head take over)... who determines what is "independently produced" and what isn't? Did GOP dollars officially go to the Clinton project? Sure it was an advocacy piece, but I'd include election day part of the "campaign," even if not the primary (as if the primary status would matter)? And while Obama isn't running, one could make the argument that a program like this could help the Democratic candidate pretty easily.

Again, I'm not suggesting that's the purpose here. I haven't seen the doc, I don't know what's in it, how Obama's portrayed, etc. I'm asking about the legal comparison. Nobody here is outraged... well, that's not true, Ted appears to have sand in his... well, somewhere... and thusly outraged... but I'm not. Just wondering how specific the legal language is to allow this, but not all that.

Oh, and Teddy... do some jumping jacks, it might knock the sand out...

The War Room and Unprecedented are recent campaign documentaries on Clinton and Bush. Bush even had Alexandra PELOSI document the 2004 election in Travels With George. Obviously, an independently-produced campaign documentary released a year after an election is not the same as an advocacy piece released during a primary campaign. You'd have to be stupid not to understand the difference.

But that won't stop the perpetual outrage machine that is the modern GOP from trying to make a big deal out of it. They will assume that their followers are all as ignorant as Imnotblue.

Well, I have to give Obama due credit. At least he has got one thing accomplished in 10 months. That is: He and the ol' Lady passed out Halloween candy which was successful.............Check ^

Here's a question (a legitimate one, because I'm unfamiliar with the case)... the Clinton case against the movie about her, shouldn't this fall under similar restrictions? It's my understanding (although I could be wrong), that in the Clinton case, the negative movie about her was censored due to campaign finance regulations. Even though Obama isn't currently running, couldn't this be considered a form of campaigning during this election season? Why wasn't there a big brouhaha over this?

Anyone have a more enlightened perspective on it?

I'm sure the film is very good and gets us in touch with his emotional side. BUT, it has the same effect on me when the Obama's have date nite. It doesn't matter. What does matter, is the economy, jobs, housing and the banking industry's propensity for selfishness.

What we need is a LEADER, not a charismatic speaker.
