The first-in-the-nation primary begins in just a number of hours, as the political world turns its focus onto the state of New Hampshire and Tuesday’s voting. Both the Democratic and Republican parties will host primary voting processes state-wide, one week after the Iowa Caucuses, and some communities in the Granite State will even begin their voting at the stroke of midnight tonight.
On the Republican side, it is a tight race to be sure and the results at the end of Tuesday could significantly shape the Nevada and South Carolina primaries after it. Donald Trump, who finished in second place in Iowa last week, holds a commanding lead in New Hampshire with nearly 32% state-wide support. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz follow suit, and then it’s the battle of the Governors in 4th-6th place: Ohio Governor John Kasich, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
On the left side of the aisle, things could not have finished in more dramatic fashion last week, when Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders finished mere fraction points behind Secretary Hillary Clinton. New Hampshire is the neighbor to Vermont, and he maintains a solid double digit lead over Clinton heading into the Primary.
