Is it me, or does this whole article just seem like red meat (pardon the pun) to the left-wingers on the site to attack Hoekstra and King. Above, Jim R and roxy both have posts which don’t mention the issue at hand, just revert to attacks on Republican congressmen.

We know where Glynnis stands on the issues… so forgive me for thinking that the purpose of this is simply to give the folks who’d like to pretend that terrorism isn’t a big deal, something to talk about.

Jim R is spot on! Hoekstra is a complete joke and so is King but, Hoekstra lost all if his credibility, not for tweeting where he was while in Iraq but, for standing in front of tv cameras after Pelosi stated that the CIA had lied about briefings. Hoekstra actually came to the CIA’s defense while he was conducting an investigation into the CIA lying about a plane that was shot down in Peru if I’m not mistaken. This plane was actually carrying a missionary worker and her daughter, both of whom were killed. You have to wonder who are the morons who vote for people like Hoekstra, Coburn, Inhofe and the other wingnuts in their party. It takes serious stupidity on the part of the voters. Good Job!

I really don’t think it would serve anyone’s purpose to build-up the iman from New Mexico. I’m sure he could use some cred in that part of the world, after all, he is American, but it shouldn’t come at the hands of some Congressman looking for a camera.

Otherwise and this isn’t directed at you personally, Glynnis… but the airliner story is getting the treatment across all legitimate media and I really don’t know what value this site can add, other than the “MSNBC is on tape”/”Ali Velshi did a good job” media angle.

Hoekstra has zero credibility in these matters, just as the rantings of Peter King should receive no attention due to repeatedly being dead wrong.

Hoekstra and his ilk are always the first ones the media approaches for their “valuable” insights, since being wrong all the time makes you serious and a go to source in matters of terror and intelligence.

Emptywheel at FDL has done even more research than Rachel into what a laughable source old Pete really is.
