James Murdoch Resigns As Director Of News International’s UK Newspaper Boards
James Murdoch, son of News Corp head Rupert Murdoch, has resigned as director of News International’s News Group Newspapers Limited (which publishes The Sun) and Times Newspapers Limited, (which oversees both The Times and Sunday Times). The younger Murdoch has also faced pressure to step down as chairman of satellite broadcasting company BSkyB, in which News Corp owns a controlling stake.
He remains News Corp’s deputy chief operating officer.
News Group Newspapers Limited is the former publisher of News of the World, which shuttered amid allegations of phone hacking and remains the center of an ongoing investigation.

The London Evening Standard spells out what this means as far as the Murdoch family is concerned:
His decision means no member of the Murdoch family now sits on the boards of the flagship UK papers. Rupert Murdoch used to be a director of NGN and TNL but stepped down after his son took over as NI executive chairman in 2007. James Murdoch has also quit at least one other subsidiary, News International Holdings.
