Calvin Woodward's 691-word AP commentary on 'Going Rogue' had 10 other AP staffers contributing to the six sets of Gov. Palin's contentions and the AP’s alleged facts. Here are the last “facts”:

"PALIN: 'Was it ambition? I didn't think so. Ambition drives; purpose beckons.' Throughout the book, Palin cites altruistic reasons for running for office, and for leaving early as Alaska governor.

"THE FACTS: Few politicians own up to wanting high office for the power and prestige of it, and in this respect, Palin fits the conventional mold. But 'Going Rogue' has all the characteristics of a pre-campaign manifesto, the requisite autobiography of the future candidate."

I worked for nearly eight years as a newspaper reporter and believe I can distinguish fact from opinion, which Mr. Woodward cannot. Mr. Woodward claimed that the book "has all the characteristics of a pre-campaign manifesto, the requisite autobiography of the future candidate."

It is far more reasonable to opine that the book has the characteristics of what someone would write who knew that the AP and others in the leftist news media ignored Ms. Palin’s record as governor, choosing instead to focus on claims of her political enemies, on whatever gossip they could unearth on her family, and whatever AP staffers thought would hurt her with the reading public. So she wanted to correct the record and to clarify to the American public who she is. She also needed income in part to pay for large legal defense bills, owing to nasty lawsuits the left tossed at her, which her family's small financial resources could not meet. Thus the book. Those are my opinions, which appear sounder than the sneering opinions Mr. Woodward and his editors falsely paraded as facts.

For many reasons, this is by far the best book and greatest literary achievement by a political figure in my lifetime.

Come now John...this is a far cry from the Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse stuff you been reading but to state that the Palin book is the best political book of all times demonstrates your bias and puts you in league with the crazies like Rush, Beck, and the ever lovable 'Throes of Insurgency'...It will take me 2 days to stop lmao.

"it is instead full of fact-filled writing that finally provides the full story of what really happened." Oh really? And we are to take your word and Palin's word? Funny, because Huffington Post now has leaked emails up (from 2008) on their site from McCain campaIgn officials that contradict what Palin and you (were you there?) say "really happened."

I like him as well and wonder sometimes if he two/to/too attended Bob[s] College, or perhaps The University of Joe. (Or/Oar is it the U of Joes??) Something tells me you, like our beloved (or is it bee luv Ed??) Sarah might be familiar with these fine institutions and their/there/they're outstanding Englush programs. I trust you will apply your obvious expertise in englush/English/whatever to this post. I thank you in advance kind sir!

PS - I was not at all trying to be funny. I like Sarah. I like Glenn. I'm a dumb ass...and I'm Going Rogue. YOU BETCHA!!

ImNotBlue,

I don't hate and I'm not close minded, only right. But, feel free to characterize my effective advocacy for liberalism in any way that makes your passionate conservatism seem less a lost cause.

Project much?

November 13, 2009 at 2:56 pm
No, she is not at all stupid and I fully expect that she will receive an offer to teach at Harvard or perhaps Stanford…or maybe Bobs College

Wouldn't it be, "Bob's College," as in possessive... not multiple "Bobs."

But I'm sorry, you were saying something funny about Palin not knowing what she's talking about...

Vidiot says:
November 13, 2009 at 4:08 pm

Yeah... just imagine if she had said something like there are 58 states... or that McCain might be President for the next 10 years. I'm sure she'd get hammered then... oh wait.

Really, the best defense for a crummy interview of Sarah Palin is two words... "Joe Biden." Why is he a-okay, even though he's been chomping on his foot for years and years... but Palin is way worse?

m says:
November 13, 2009 at 4:50 pm

And was also responsible for exposing it as a waste of money, and getting ol' what's his name kicked out.

"COURIC: And when it comes to establishing your world view, I was curious, what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this — to stay informed and to understand the world?'

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I would like to know when this snarky little rodent, Perky Katie, asked this question of ANY MAN WHO WAS RUNNING FOR PUBLIC OFFICE. How about it, Katie? This was an AMBUSH! Plain and simple. And I don't blame Sarah Palin for being annoyed.

JimR

"One can dance around it all day but Peggy Noonan said it best, “she couldn’t say what she read because she doesn’t read anything.”

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Peggy Noonan is a post-menopausal HARPY who couldn't say a kind word about anyone as vibrant and exciting as Sarah Palin if her life depended on it. Pfftt! She's been hanging around the pond scum at MSNBC so long she has developed brain rot disease. This old broad is histrionic, tedious and should keep her silly mouth shut when she obviously has no idea what Sarah Palin reads. ZIP IT, you old bat!

Tedneb,

"Source? You and Peggy Noonan are privy to what Palin reads (or doesn’t read) HOW exactly?"

It was really hard! I listened to the words coming out of her mouth and determined, all by my lonesome without MSNBC or Fox input, that she was wholly unqualified for the job - along with the other 70% of Americans who agree with my analysis.

The fact you're in the other 30% isn't need for such consternation on your part, we simply disagree. No need to imply it is unfathomable how anyone could reach a conclusion other than your own, that isn't civil and it isn't honest debate.

I happened to be in the 30% in the eighties when my blue collar brethren we're voting for Reagan and I happened to believe he and his ilk, after hammering away since the Great Depression and the huge resulting Republican loses for 50 years, were letting the fox into the hen-house and sowing the seeds of economic destruction and the destruction of the middle class.

The fact I've been vindicated 25 years later is little solace, perhaps yours will be less bittersweet after time if Republicans are successful in their boringly predictable attempts to destroy the latest Democratic President at any cost to avoid the next FDR.

>Sarah Palin is an anti-corruption conservative.

She lobbied and took the money for arguably THE biggest symbol of government waste in years: the Bridge to Nowhere. I don't think she has any moral high ground on proper governing.

Yes, saying that Sarah Palin doesn't read is wrong, insulting, and inexcusable. After all, we know that she reads all newspapers and magazines. She told us herself:

COURIC: And when it comes to establishing your world view, I was curious, what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this — to stay informed and to understand the world?

PALIN: I’ve read most of them again with a great appreciation for the press, for the media —

COURIC: But what ones specifically? I’m curious.

PALIN: Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years.

COURIC: Can you name any of them?

PALIN: I have a vast variety of sources where we get our news.

Katie Couric really shouldn't be "badgering" Our Sarah with such unfair, liberal-biased hardball questions.

Yes, saying that Sarah Palin doesn’t read is wrong, insulting, and inexcusable.

No, she is not at all stupid and I fully expect that she will receive an offer to teach at Harvard or perhaps Stanford...or maybe Bobs College. She has that unique combination of brains and beauty and I can't wait to read her book when I have five minutes to spare.

Sarah Palin is an anti-corruption conservative.

She believes the public should be free of government control to the greatest extent possible, and that big government leads to oppression of freedom.

If you don't understand that, you haven't taken the time to understand her.

If you believe that she doesn't read, you simply can't be helped. Siting Peggy Noonan, who learned of Sarah Palin's existence around the same time you did, isn't a source; it's an embarassment. She knows nothing more of Sarah Palin than you.

How someone can dislike someone like John Zeigler for putting a mirror up to the media, is beyond me; you must not like what you're seeing. Speaking truth to power should always be encouraged.

Either way, Sarah Palin's going to be around for awhile. Painting her as stupid or undereducated is laughable. Peggy Noonan's a friggin columnist. That's a cartoonist that can't draw.

Real news shows like whom?

And it's a good thing they asked the relatively unknown Palin all those tough questions, and were very critical of her... I mean, if they didn't, they might have had to ask tough questions of the relatively unknown Obama, and been very critical of him! And we wouldn't want that.

Yes, yes... everyone is Conservative. The world is crashing in on you... we get it. Frothing at the mouth... scream it from the street corners... shout it from the rooftops... "They're all Conservatives!" Blah-blah-blah... let the crazy flow.

Shouldn't you be off eating a shoe?

I wouldn't worry about the AP trying to do a hachet job on Palin. There are millions of us out here that admire her for the exact reasons the libs hate her. Her book will sell out and probably stay on the best seller list.
I am buying a couple as gifts this year.
The libs like to trash her to make their on bad choice seem more viable, but nothing they can make up about Sarah will ever make the Obama choice right.
I don't know if Sarah plans or running for office or not but I can tell you she would be doing a much better job as President then the dimwit that is currently in office.

This idiot Ziegler is complaining about AP! Are you kidding me? AP IS CONSERVATIVE, you idiot. There is nothing liberal about the AP. He just can't stand that the Palin horse he is riding is really stupid and incompetent and even CONSERVATIVES know this at this point.

Oh, does this whining never end? The media had a right to ask a relative unknown tough questions. Palin was soft-balled and she now whines about it, The hypocrisy is staggering. After Couric and Gibson, the only interviews Palin will do are softies like Oprah and Fox News. If Palin were the force that she paints herself as, she would be doing real news interviews about issues other than herself and her vaunted victimhood.

Jim R:

Source? You and Peggy Noonan are privy to what Palin reads (or doesn't read) HOW exactly?

Elitist presumption doesn't count as a source...

Sorry,

Your passionate one-mindedness in defense of all things right wing in general and Sarah Palin in particular notwithstanding, I say good luck in convincing 51% of America otherwise.

One can dance around it all day but Peggy Noonan said it best, "she couldn't say what she read because she doesn't read anything."

Not that there's anything wrong with that, if you're not aiming to be one 72 year old heartbeat away from the nuclear button. Then I prefer to see someone at least qualified to handle Katie Couric softballs.

I'm not a fan of Palin, Ziegler or the AP. I am, however, a fan of Mediaite for providing a balance in reporting not seen too often, these days. Thank you.
