David, you'll probably never see this, but this story was about a Tonight Show appearance back in August 2009 and has nothing to do with Hamm's appearance on Conan earlier this week (Nov 2010, 15 months later). I think you fell victim to Mediaite's "you might also like" archaeology just like I did. ;-)

Rachel, I’m a big fan of Mad Men, but am watching football every Sunday nite & often miss it. I’m a bigger fan of 30 Rock and am surprised you missed Jack McBrayer’s interview by Conan the night before, which was arguably lamer than the Jon Hamm one last nite, which I serendipitously caught coming off the Daily Show. [Jon is an NFL football fanatic too, if anyone missed the Jimmy Kimmel duo when they talked pigskin.]

I thought Conan gratuitously started to get snarky at Jack’s admittedly close resemblance to his 30Rock persona. And Conan also blew the Hamm interview, which had the interesting broken-hand anecdote—so they did talk SOMEWHAT about Mad Men.

Glad to see Rachel is coming out of the 2010 election cycle with her head screwed on forwards, as they say, with her priorities back in apple-pie order. I’d like to think what she thinks about “Sarah Palin’s Alaska.”

I’m pretty sure I didn’t say that. The boring shill part was the focus on Andy Richter and the celebrity softball game, which was the least interesting part of the interview.

Argh, I hate it when I watch a late night segment expecting it to be a boring shill piece for an upcoming release of a film or TV show, and then it turns out to be an entertaining conversation with the guest!

Anyone who hasn’t seen Mad Men doesn’t know what they are missing. Not since Aaron Sorkin’s The West Wing has there been a show so intelligent and entertaining. Watch one episode and you’ll probably be hooked.
