WHICH media? Other than the fledgling progressive media – which generally “attacked” Bush with factual information, I know of scant serious inquiry by the corporate media at-large into arguably the most corrupt administration in this country’s history. Only toward the end of their last term, when Bush, Cheney and Rove could no longer conceal the magnitude of their malfeasance, did Big Media finally begin to even take a cursory look.

Stewart is quite right. As the de facto propaganda arm of the Republicant Party, Fakes News has taken every possible “cheep shot” at Obama and his administration and will continue to do so. Repeatedly. Relentlessly.

The sheep that sit and watch in a glassy-eyed stupor while Fox tells them what to think rather than think for themselves – God forbid – can’t even ponder the possibility that they’re being lied to. Repeatedly. Relentlessly.

The biggest threat to our democracy isn’t Obama. It’s the calculated lies, half-truths and outright fabrications that pass for Fox “news” – and those who willingly and mindlessly capitulate to its brand of electronic fascism.

Gordon, the country was not ‘founded’ on revolution. We won our independence from a revolution but we were not founded on revolution. And we certainly were not ‘founded’ on people who wanted to hang the king. In fact, the country was pretty split at the time of the revolution.

There is a difference between the words ‘on’ and ‘by’.

Our country was founded in regards to the enlightenment era principles of open debate, the honest exchange of ideas, and reason. Our government is supposed to function with our elected representation engaging in open, honest debate and reaching a compromise. Unfortunately, with fundamentalist idealogues such as yourself becoming the norm, we can no longer reach compromise. All that is left are two political parties that are more interested in yelling at each other and acting like children than they are working together to find solutions to the nation’s problems.

Conservative media outlets retain their unfortunate power and influence over the public discourse because they are able to lie largely without consequence.

They did it all this week, they did it all last week, and they’ll do it again next week.
