		<description>There is something so completely American about the small guy taking on the powerful. Milbank used to do that. Now, he looks down on those coming up through the ranks with the same haughty anger he once reserved for the truly deserving.. Pitney is on the rise with his tireless Twitter and news page. I don&#039;t think Milbank has done any real reporting a long while, if ever.</description>

		<description>Great piece.  The ending, especially, deftly if implicitly raises the question whether old media -- or, better, press -- have become so entrenched that they no may longer satisfy Jefferson&#039;s free and independent standard.  

It&#039;s curious that the piece appears in the online category here.  Maybe that&#039;s a final nod of affirmation to Pitney and the blogosphere.  It also seems to me to suggest that, even on its launch day, mediaite.com may be segmenting media (online, print, etc) in ways that take a stand on what may or may not so clearly exist in the actual world.</description>
