Well, Pam... respect is a two way street... and you have certainly earned mine. I really appreciate what you wrote, and can certainly empathize with your POV. I may not agree (although, I probably disagree less than one would assume), but am always happy to have a debate or discussion with someone who really wants to talk, not just preach or shout, and then bail.

The blogs are a funny thing. I've been poking around them for a few years now, and they're certainly unique. You'll get the people who just want to fight... the people who aren't looking to debate, just tell you that "you're an idiot," and then move along. Then there are the people who really want to talk and discuss. Unfortunately, the angry posters (the shouters, the insulters, etc.), often find away to hijack a thread away from the reasonable people. Now I won't lie, sometimes getting into one of those fights can be kind of fun... but it's almost never productive, because neither side is really listening.

Anyway... I hope you keep on posting when you feel it appropriate, and I'll do my best to keep an eye out for you. It's always nice to know who the "real people" are... the people who want to talk. It makes conversing much easier. Happy weekend!

@ImNotBlue I need to be more careful when using "phrases". You are right. I need to proofread better before I hit submit. I am new to this politics business. I, like to many, did not pay much attention for years as I seemed to have more important things to do. I voted for Gore but when Bush won and I decided (for reasons I won't get into on here) to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Yes, the anger concerned me during the Bush administration. I liked McCain in 2000 but because of his choice of Sara Palin in 2008 I could not have voted for him if he was the "only" candidate. I will admit that when I heard Obama's speech at the 2004 convention I was very impressed. He got intouch with my liberal side. When he decided to run I took all of my pent up anger with the Bush administration and donated money, campaigned for Obama. I have never done that before. I did throw my entire self into the campaign. Do I like all of his policies? Not by a long shot. I have said for years that voting in most elections is like voting for the lessor of TWO evils. The thought of Palin being anywhere near the Whitehouse keep me up at night. So now I will live with that choice and hope for the best.

I would never suggest that you keep quiet. Maybe my problem is that I was taught to be respectful and try to practice that as much as possible.

Let's move away from the, "I can't understand how those people..." type phrases, unless you-me-we really "can't understand" them.

@ImNotBlue Your wrong. I do understand your issues and have no problem with "you" expressing them. I don't agree with everything on the left either. I just don't like the WAY many people express their issues. You might no believe it but I am rather "Right" when it comes to some issues and might even agree with you.

So your point is if NBC keeps laying off more and more people... that will help keep them afloat? I guess that's why they are doing the 2nd round in less than a year! LOL

Besides, look how consumed you are with MSNBC, when the layoffs are at NBC News/MSNBC. But you can't still grasp that FACT after all this time. Besides, you are the one who flat out LIED in the first place about things.

Also, so what if MSNBC beat CNN in the "demo". That demo doesn't matter to Keith. He made up the 35 and under! LOL Because he kept getting his ass kicked by Nancy Grace.

Also, the only thing it shows with MSNBC coming in a pathetic lowely 2nd in the 2nd ahead of CNN is CNN has fallen even more than MSNBC. But they don't care because they still blow away MSLSD when it comes to license fees and ad revenue. MSLSD doesn't make very much money. Hell, Leno will make more profit for them in a a year than that whole pathetic network.

@Billy Carter - I agree with you in your last posting. I do remember the left being VERY vocal when Bush did all of his baloney such as tryung to constantly frughtening the entire country. I actually had a friend that believed he would bring the end of the world as we know it. She really believed that. I agree with you that much of the anger out there is because of Obama's policies and the fears of people probably on the right about the national debt and bailouts. They (you) have every right to be vocal and protest and work to get him out of office. What I want to know is why the people allow themselves to be lumped in with all of the radicals and racists that are out there. I teach communication skills. It is not difficult to voice your fears and also NOT allow the insane to make you as a group look like you are also insane. Stand up to the nuts and separate yourself from them. Or at least ask your politicans make a point to dismiss the crazy ones. No one has done that NO ONE. I as a liberal will be the first to point out our crazy people and also the ones that are morally wrong. You and your party should do the same. So many endorse Rush and Glenn and all they are doing is making money off of all of this and going home at night and laughing at all of those people that watch them. It is all about money!!!!

GE conference call anouncing 2nd quarter earnings for 2009: "MSNBC beat CNN in prime ages 25 to 54 and total viewers for the full quarter, first time ever. And their profit was up 8%."

Thanks for playing.

Does it hurt to not have a brain? I'm guessing it doesn't.

But we never established why you changed the subject from NBC News/MSNBC laying off people TO YOU changing that to MSNBC is losing money? Why did you do that?! Also, the only thing you established is MSNBC was profitable LAST YEAR. So of course, you have done nothing to show that is the case this year. If you are into using REAL FACTS.

So while MSNBC is having to lay off people... and their viewership is WAY DOWN and their ad revenue is way down..... FNC (with the most balanced viewership of Democrats/Indepedents and Republicans) is having their best year ever--in terms or ratings, profitability etc.

Of course FNC is the most trusted name in news as well. Something left leaning loons can't handle.

Captain, I love that you answer to your name of FNCtard. You recogize your own. Very good. We're making baby steps here.

And yes, we all know that FNC is making a shit-ton of money off of you FNCtards, but this isn't news. There has to be a place in which all of the racist/homophobic/illiterate/a-holes in this country can gather together and share the very few thoughts you have amongst the group - and Fox News be thy name. You fools will buy anything wrapped in a flag, smothered in racism and sprinkled with Jesus. (BTW, Jesus does not approve of the race baiting loonery that is Fox News; nor does he approve of you sheep FNCtards who eat their racist shit up with a spoon.)

So apparently we've established that MSNBC is profitable. Good. We've made some progress here as well. One FNCtard recognizing a fact for being a fact. Maybe one day we'll be able to talk about evolution and other daunting affronts to your white-Christian-Americans ARE America mentality.

There goes Agent Orangutan trying to confuse the issue (much like Keith does). When we point out the reality that NBC & MSNBC are having their 3rd round of layoffs, he goes into whining mode purely about MSLSD. Then he finally pulls up numbers from last year when MSLSD actually had some ratings. Before their ratings collapsed (right after giving Olbynut that huge raise).

Too bad Agent can't handle the real facts like FNC makes 5 times + the license fee MSLSD makes. That FBN makes the same amount each month (from its cable/satellite) subscribers that MSLSD makes.

Why doesn't Agent talk about the billions that GE stock has lost because of The Factor rants against its dealing with terrorists. That would make a far greater discussion.

Does Agent have any idea how much ad revenue is down this year? Probably not!

Liberals never care about actual facts.

FNCtards, still looking for facts (real facts, not that fake Fox News "fact" stuff you guys eat up) that show MSNBC is losing money or is on the brink of collapse. As I pointed out on another thread, their estimated profit -- not revenue -- profit from 2008 was $135,000,000.

m says:
September 25, 2009 at 8:52 am

So I guess you don’t lump yourself in together with the hypocrites who said that to everyone who questioned Bush?

As I said then, questioning Bush’s policies was a great thing to do. Calling him an “idiot,” didn’t really move the discussion or debate forward.

The left had a bigger case for questioning the first term of the Bush Presidency, since he was elected in 2000 by the greatest form of judicial activism we’ve seen in this country’s history.

In other words, the issue that I saw as important (no matter what the rest of the government, Supreme Court, post-election independent analysis, or the Democratic candidate, Al Gore) gave me carte blanche to say or do whatever I want. But now, I don’t see the issues that the right sees as “important,” so therefore I don’t want them saying anything. If you notice... you’re opinion sure has a lot of “you” in it... and that means double standard.

What does concern me is the amount of anger that so many people express.

But it didn’t concern you during the Bush Administration? There was plenty of anger then... posters depicting Bush getting shot, insults abound, movies and television shows suggesting Bush get killed, and so on. And yet, that wasn’t enough anger to upset you? Why?

What I can’t put my finger on is what so many people are afraid of. I knew what I was afraid of with the Bush administration but I held on knowing that at the worst he would be in office for 8 years.

Well, that means one of two things... either (A) you’re incapable of putting yourself in other people’s shoes, and therefore don’t want to see or understand the opposition’s opinion, or (B) you’ve done not actual research, or made no actual effort to understand or read the opposition’s complains.

Really, the issue is the same... you seem to be able to only see what YOU believe. You believe Bush is bad, so you see why people might thing that... but you don’t understand why people supported him. You believe Obama is good, so you see why people would support him... but don’t understand why people dislike him. Again, just like “M” above... there’s a whole lot of YOU, in that.

So for those of you that are in fear of Obama, use your energy to vote him out of office in 2012. Or is it easier just to moan and groan on the blogs for 4 years?

Did you use your energy in the last 8 years to complain, protest, or “moan and groan” about Bush... or did you keep silent until the election? If people don’t speak up now, things they don’t want to happen, things they believe are bad for the country, will just go on through without debate. The Presidency isn’t an ability to “do whatever you want while your in office,” you’re still beholden to the will of the people. People speaking up and protesting, are voicing their opinion... and your suggestion that they just “keep quiet” is both hypocritical and un-American (the ability to protest and peacefully debate our government is a fundamental principal of this country).

Captain America says “Well you should start caring because FNC has over 60 million viewers each month.”
That’s the stupidest statement yet. Nice math. So the same 2 million per day watch everyday, just multiply it by 30 days and you get 60 million? Why don’t you just multiply it by 365 days and say they have 730 million viewers? That’s just as bat sh!t crazy as 60 million viewers. >>

Sorry to put your ignorance about tv on full display Johnny, but its hilarious to see someone so ill informed as yourself try to attack the one who actually knows what he is talking about.

Lets put it into a persepective even YOU can understand. The Super Bowl. The game might have an average rating of 55 million people. But what do you see in the press release? Record 115 million people tuned in. That they did (for at least 5 minutes).

Also, I hope you don't think when you see The Factor at 8:00 pm had 3.5 million viewers, you think that is all the viewers they had. That's the AVERAGE. When in reality The Factor at 8:00 pm could have had over 5 million viewers or more.

Also, what is really funny is you could have at least came up with the CNN argument. But it shows you don't pay attention at all to things. Why do you think CNN had their "deceptive" ads about having more viewers than FNC? Come on, think hard!

I guess nobody ever explained the CUME to you...

Next time you will know about this and won't try to attack someone but end up making an *** of yourself in the process.

@Pam1151:

Touche! Your points are well taken.
I only have one disagreement. While it's true that Obama can be voted out of office in 2012, those of us who oppose his proposed policies should be vocal now. By that I mean contacting our representatives and letting them know what we're unhappy about in hopes of getting support there. If we remain silent until 2012, then laws are passed that we may disagree with and we can only blame ourselves for having remained silent.
The Healthcare debate is a perfect example. I don't think our politicians expected this subject to erupt into a firestorm. The summer of 2009 will most definitely not be remembered as the Summer of Love in the USA.
There is alot of anger in America today, ignited by the corporate bailouts and stimulus plans. Add to that, the corrupt politicians and organizations that have been exposed.

@Billy Carter I agree with you that many bashed Bush for 8 years. I was one of those that felt he stole "both" elections. I also agree with your right to have an opinion on this adminidtration. But you do remember what they say about opinions?? Opinions are like ass>>>>>, everyone has one.
So I guess you don't lump yourself in together with the hypocrites who said that to everyone who questioned Bush? Including those who questioned their patriotism in opposing the 2003 Iraqi War invasion?

The left had a bigger case for questioning the first term of the Bush Presidency, since he was elected in 2000 by the greatest form of judicial activism we've seen in this country's history.

m... where was that comment 8 years ago? Where was that comment 4 years ago?

Funny how "respect for the office," is something you guys recently found. I agree with the sentiments, but man... after all those arguments I had with people saying, "Why should I respect Bush, I didn't vote for him!" who are now saying, "We should respect the office, if not the man," the hypocrisy is simply stunning.

"racist/homophobic/ultra-conservative base" must be one of the main mantras. if you can say something long enough and for enough times you can make it true in the minds of people who say it, whether it is true or not. Sad, so very sad.

Nature says that man was made for woman and woman for man. No such "obvious fit "shall we say, for people who choose a homosexual lifestyle. That is common sense. I am not afraid of people who choose to live that way but am sensible enough not to be goaded into saying the king is wearing clothes when he is not.

Obama's policies are the problem not his skin color. Bringing up his skin color is a convenient excuse for ignoring the facts about his agenda.

If the race card is played enough in this administration, our country will think twide about electing another person of color simply because in this administration the whiny race card seems to be pulled out at every disagreement by his "supporters". That would be very sad indeed as we have many good, solid, conservative men and women of color who could lead this country and who I would vote for.

I am just as sickened by the KKK and the bigots who care no more for the country than this present administration. They are as confused and dangerous as the radical left

The vast majority are average folks, who love the country and are finally realizing that there are many others who will band with them to help stop the kind of change that Obama had in mind.

Liberals can't get that outraged because their outrage is not based in fact. It's just a bunch of disingenuous babble trying to sound like conservatives who are genuinely outraged. So their shows will never really appeal to a lot of regular folks.

@billy
I do find it sad that more people are interested in what Paris Hilton had for lunch than what any President has on his plate all of the time.
But I can't imagine the mindless babble that comes out Hilton's head is that much different from the lunacy that spews from your keyboard. Your just not that bright of a guy. Are you? I know most stupid people don't know they are stupid and crazy people don't think they're crazy, but the rest of us do...hate to break it to you.....I'll wait patiently for your next gem of a post.

Of all the comment boards that exist on the internet this has to be the most ignorant argument I have ever tried to read. Sorry, I couldn't read all your mental diarrhea. Why do you people bother? YOU can't care about that much about what your saying, let alone someone who thinks the exact opposite. I'm so sure the 15 people who contribute regularly the this site are going to compete with the 349,999,984 other people in the country who don't even care about FOX news and MSNBC. When either one can get more than 1% of the population to watch their channels maybe then I'll care.

@Pam1151
I have DISH and MSNBC is standard as part of the pkg I have, but you're right if you want MSNBC in HD, you have to pay extra (which I obviously won't).

Secondly....you mention that we argue like small children. Actually, us conservatives have taken the high road for years and kept our mouths shut while the vocal liberals, progressives, left wingers and other lunatics kept bashing our country. They endlessly beat up on President Bush, badmouthed America while in Europe, visited tyrants and basically apologized to them for America's bad behavior towards terrorists. These people also decided we should make "Merry Christmas" illegal and replace it with the Koran and foot baths for Muslims. The ACLU with egging on from the Left also wanted to take patriotism out of schools, rid the public square of any reference to God, but allow Allah to be worshipped.....and on, and on, and on.....
Well....we're not keeping our mouths shut anymore. Now we're attacking and the Left can't stand it because they're not used to this. MSNBC is their soapbox of last resort, hoping that Obama will succeed in steering us toward Socialism. Hell, even that maniac from Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, praised Obama and encouraged him to go to Socialism.

DEAL WITH IT!!! ED SCHULTZ IS A LOSER ON A LOSING NETWORK!!!

Pam1151 says:
Everyone knows that MSNBC is NOT on many of the cable lineups. It is also a premimum channel on others.>>

That is why they have lost 3 million homes in just the last year. They were moved from basic cable lineups to higher digital tiers. They were able to move them like that because they only come in around #27 or so when it comes to most watched cable channels. So it was easy to dump them.

Remember, Keith acts like older viewers don't matter at all. But Keith doesn't understand how cable channels get their money.

@AO...
Don't expect everyone to do the work for you. I already told you once, GOOGLE it and you'll get all the evidence you want of MSNBC's slow death.
BTW, we're not talking about companies, we're talking about MSNBC as a sinking ship. Ed Schultz is a perfect example of incompetent management over at MSNBC. You said it yourself in the first post of this thread, "I wasn't aware that people actually watched Ed Schultz".
So you say that FNC caters to a racist/homophobic/ultra-conservative base? I think your statement is more of an angry reaction to the fact that regular folks are going in droves to FNC for honest reporting and dumping the hate-filled broadcasts of MSNBC.

Everyone knows that MSNBC is NOT on many of the cable lineups. It is also a premimum channel on others. So that explains why they don't make as much money or have as many viewers. You guys argue like small children on here. I am a lefty and I can't deal with ED anymore than I can deal with big mouth Glenn. Both parties have their own crazed bunch. Those of us in the middle get lost in the shufffle.
