New York, I Love You (And Always Have): Top Ten New York Movie Moments
3. When Harry Met Sally
The 1989 flick that instantly made Meg Ryan America’s new sweetheart, it also reintroduced the eternal question: can a guy and a girl can actually be just friends. We can’t believe it’s been twenty years since Harry met Sally, but we’ll never forget the impossible-to-not-love love story that they created, from the moment Harry dropped Sally off at Washington Square Park to the night they finally do it, plus the post-coitus awkwardness, and the post awkwardness reconciliation that ends in this epic moment. But the moment that will live in infamy, and also put pastrami sandwiches and Katz’s on the national map, is this one:
4. Sleepless In Seattle
While we’re on the subject of Meg Ryan, here is that other Nora Ephron-directed favorite Sleepless In Seattle, the movie which updated the famous Empire State Building plot point from An Affair To Remember for modern audiences.

Or my favorite(can’t find a clip)
The street fair scene from “You’ve Got Mail” Or anything from “You’ve Got Mail.”
I feel like there’s a whole segment of “gritty new york” clips that are missing from this pantheon – of course I can’t think of any now. Maybe “Pieces of April” about an awkward LES Thanksgiving?
Love them all. And, since I’m a Brooklyn gal, I have to add Sophie’s Choice and that fabulous house in Ditmas Park. (Trailer) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlcH-m5l0g4
Love this
How could King Kong climbing the Empire State building with Fay Ray not be on this list? A huge oversight.
What about “Miracle on 34th Street”?!! You have “Elf” but not this classic???
Also, what about Ghostbusters?!!! It was all New York, and more visibly and identifiably New York than most of the movies listed — and it’s also better than a half the movies mentioned! It’s got down town, uptown and everything in between. Come on, the Staypuffed marshmallow man rampaging through the streets of New York and the exploding covering the street with marshmallow?! Seriously. Your list is sadly lacking.
New York I Love You is full of love and power. Not for everybody, however, but is a beautiful movie.
Charles Krauthammer On Health Care Bill: ‘It Will Never Be Repealed’

The House of Representatives just passed the health care bill with a vote of 219 to 212. Fox News news analyst Charles Krauthammer set up the moment quite prosaically. "This is a historic moment. This is the moment I think America changes. I don't think it will ever end up being repealed. There's no way it could happen before 2013. I think its unlikely to happen anytime at all. In terms of debt it will be huge..."
MSNBC: Bart Stupak Called ‘Baby Killer’ By GOP Rep On House Floor
According to MSNBC's Luke Russert, pro-life Democrat Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI), who held out until the last minute for more restrictive language on federal funding for abortion, was called a "baby-killer" as he spoke on the House floor tonight. The video of the report after the jump.
