New Yorkers Would Prefer To Have Eliot Spitzer Back As Governor

If his new CNN gig doesn’t work out looks like disgraced former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer can always fall back on…politics. A new Public Policy Polling survey reveals that New Yorkers want Spitzer back as their Gov. (or Lov Gov, as the New York Post would say).

But by a 45-28 margin, voters would have preferred Spitzer still be governor, despite the personal scandals that prompted his resignation. Though less liked with the GOP and unaffiliated voters, New York Republicans and independents evidently feel things are on such a bad track in the state that they still would have rather had Spitzer, albeit by narrow 37-34 and 38-33 margins. Democrats overwhelmingly choose Spitzer, 53-22.

Surprising? Nah. Especially considering the options we have before us at the moment. But more than that, it’s hard not to wonder if Spitzer had been outed just a year later, after the nation became accustomed to political scandals and Argentinian escapades, and more importantly after the financial collapse, he wouldn’t have been able to weather the scandal in office instead of whiling away his time on a pre-taped CNN show while Carl Paladino blunders his way through the campaign season.

Voters could just write in …9… on their ballots this year .

Howdy Doody would look good next to Paterson…

I’m not at all surprised. Rather revolting. But, it’s just not New Yorkers. Look at Louisiana. It is about to re-elect one of the scuzziest perverts we’ve seen in American politics in a very long time.

“New Yorkers Would Prefer To Have Eliot Spitzer Back As Governor” Ah, this is just a rumor spread by CNN, in hopes that Eliot will walk away from his contract. Much cheaper than firing him, which will inevitably happen if Eliot sticks around a few more months.

I can understand why New Yawkers don’t like their current governor, but I hope that voters do think twice about electing someone who has willfully broken the law while in office. Repubican, Democrat, or Independent.

Spitzer remains the only politician to publicly and brilliantly go after the damn thieves in the financial services industry. We’re gonna need ten thousand Spitzers to get anywhere near close to ending their long con on America, but man, I’d vote for him in a heartbeat.

    Yes!

New Yorkers know how to compartmentalize, unlike many of the conservatives floating around here (at least when it comes to liberals). Nobody was happy with Spitzer’s prostitution scandal, but he was an effective leader, and went after the REAL criminals in this economic racket called Wall St. But to the cons who believe every talking point issued from the RNC, or FreedomWorks, or the Chamber of Commerce, his entire life and career are summed up in that one incident. To those people I have just two words: DAVID VITTER!

Spitzer was kicked out of office for hiring prostitutes? And that’s not illegal in N.Y? He was effectively committing crime while indulging in it? Yaaa, that’s my kind of politician……one that’s just as stank as the criminals he goes after….Is he from Chicago?…just a thought.

    Or Louisiana (Vitter)?
