They played a 22-minute phone-in interview with the policeman on Boston's WEEI. Drudge linking to the audio, which should give WEEI its biggest page-hit day ever. But the guy sounded quite above board and rational in his description of the incident. Racism, as we can see in Al Sharpton, is an industry. Was this whole thing some sort of diversionary ploy by Obama to get the focus off health care? Even though he and Gates know each other, that's a stretch. Whether it's the House health bill, the stimulus, or this Gates thing, Obama is doing way too much talking before he has all the facts.

@James - Glad you watched the whole conference, but did you read this whole article? Looks like you maybe read the first graph and then decided to comment?

But I would completely disagree with your comment anyway. I found that Obama took the questions as opportunities to elaborate on his own plan without actually giving solid answers. Great example is the first question he took. Typical of most presidential press conferences, to be sure, but especially egregious when a president is laying out specifics of a health care plan.

Also, did you miss the "If you have a red pill and a blue pill" Matrix reference?! You're right, that stuff is probably too smart and articulate for me.

Obama must be too smart and articulate for you, Ms. MacNicol. I found the press conference, which I watched in its entirety, to be interesting and informative. Even the reporters asked decent questions this time, and Obama went out of his way to give clear and substantive answers. I guess you fluff-headed reporters can't handle the substance. Maybe you should go into theater criticism or something. No wonder your credibility is down the tubes!
