In addition to being the former Governor of Utah, Huntsman served as the U.S. Ambassador to Singapore under President George H.W. Bush and U.S. Ambassador to China under President Barack Obama.
The reports he was getting this position first started in March, and now it’s official. (Though as some pointed out on Twitter, the White House accidentally misspelled his name as “John,” not “Jon.”)
The news comes after the White House confirmed the President had a second, informal meeting with Vladimir Putin during the G20 summit.
