Report: Anthony Weiner’s Bundle Of Joy Will Be A Boy

Former NY Rep. Anthony Weiner, when not living up to his name via social media, is busily preparing to become a first-time father to a baby boy. According to Page Six, which DUH OF COURSE titled its post “Little Weiner,” Weiner and his wife, Huma Abedin, have been telling those close to them that they are expecting a son.

Abedin and Weiner, whose marriage was the subject of much public scrutiny following his online dalliances with various women, recently returned from a “babymoon” in France in Italy. Back in June, the New York Post had Abedin spending some time away from her husband. News of the couple’s pregnancy broke right in the midst of the so-called “Weinergate” scandal.

Despite all the trials and tribulations, Huma and Anthony did the hard work on their relationship and are still together as a married couple. Their son will be born to an intact loving family. Social conservatives here should be very happy about the family values both of them are displaying.

I don’t think the hard work is done. Given the circumstances, it is going to take years of perfect, unquestionable fidelity for him to win back her trust. While their son will be born to an intact family, it remains to be seen if he is raised in one. I hope he is.

I agree. It will take years.

My point was that many Conservatives were willing to pounce on him viciously for his behavior, but they will never give Anthony credit for permanently ending his addiction to “sexting” and becoming a faithful husband. He seems to be doing the hard work necessary to save his marriage with Huma.

Weiner was very wrong in what he did but much of this story was also about the politics of destruction.

He destroyed his own political career by sending the photos and accelerated its destruction by lying about it. It’s always worse when the person makes it out to be some kind of vast right-wing conspiracy and it turns out he is the only one conspiring. We’ll find out today how badly his actions turned off the voters in his district.

And, if his sexting was really an addiction, I think it’s too early to say it’s permanently ended. One day at a time. I’d cut him more slack if he was off Twitter (I only tweet when imitating birds, so I don’t know and I’m not interested enough to find out).
