Wasn’t this kid, Levi, allowed to “court” Brisket and sleep in Palin’s house? Wasn’t he pranced around as the wonderful father and husband to be? Didn’t Palin take offense when he dropped out of high school to work and people referred to him as a DROP OUT (????????That was the first clue in Palin’s faulty logic).

He was never going to be allowed to marry and make the bastard child legal. OR the child, Trap, would have been born under wedlock. WHAT WAS PALIN WAITING FOR? She was waiting to see HOW MUCH LONGER she needed Levi. So, she uses him up and then demonizes him. He is now a LIAR. Palin has been CAUGHT LYING many times…Levi not so much. Why is it so hard to believe Palin uses this word? She has consistently shown herself to be a terrible mother, a human dingo of a mother. I don’t think she is maliciously so. Her children simply have a very low priority in her life, and she views them as mere props to further her own self interest. When she uses that term, she isn’t referring to a person, to a child, in her mind, simply to a piece of property.

Rahm Emanuel is the Chief of Staff to the President of the United States. Let me repeat, the Chief of Staff to the President of the United States.

He’s not some aging rock star (perhaps Palin will end up cancelling him if she finds out he uses the term), he is not France. He’s not even some loud mouth on the radio.

He is in a very high profile position, working for the POTUS, and calls Democrats f*cking r*tarded, and people want to criticize Palin over this, and excuse Rahm and turn the attention to Palin.

Andrew Sullivan? Are you KIDDING? He believes Levi? He believes that Palin calls her baby retarded? Please.

Considering Shriver had Rahm sign a pledge not to use the term:

The groups issued a joint statement afterward, saying Emanuel agreed to “join more than 54,000 people in pledging to end the use of the R-word at http://www.r-word.org,” and added “the administration would continue to look for ways to partner with us” on the legislative front.

I would assume Shriver and others deem the word offensive and this is not merely something Palin created.

This may be a term that people use, but can’t we expect more out of the Chief of Staff to the POTUS – especially since this came on the heels of Obama’s Special Olympics flap.

Ok, regardless of the political affiliations and who is getting fired over what, I really appreciate this post because I am the sister of an Autistic girl who was very severe as a child. Even as a younger person I understood how hurtful words can be, and so whenever I heard one of my classmates, friends, etc. use the word “retard” I would kindly ask them not to. I would explain that it was offensive, and once I told them my sister’s story people everyone was remarkably understanding. It even got to the point where friends of mine were asking other people not to use the term. It’s not about being “politically correct” it’s about consideration for a population that is constantly bombarded with negativity, which often creates a hostile, “other-ed” environment. Political correctness is not the issue. It’s about respect.

Using Levi as a credible source is just stupid, but Palin herself needs to just let this go. He apologized, realized it was a bone headed, off the cuff comment so let it go. People do say stupid things in the heat of the moment, or just say stupid things period, but this correctness is getting out of control. The guy doesn’t need to resign.
Both sides do it. One day Rahm, next day Rush, everyday Keith…
Glynnis, trying to make a point by quoting Sullivan, who you clearly admit is extremely biased against Palin does your piece a disservice and I essentially dismissed the article as you clearly cannot write a balanced piece, but given you aren’t a journalist, that’s ok and puts you in the same group as Beck and Olby.

Palin has upped the ante again today calling for Rahm to be fired but, no word on Rush’s job security? Rahm wasn’t referring to children and neither was Rush so, I don’t understand the silence on Rush while repeating her call for Rahm to be fired. By the way, Liberals hate Rahm and would love to see him gone but, now that the facebook fearmongerer who quit her job is calling for Rahm’s head, he’s not going anywhere. Thanks a lot!

I noticed that HL as well. Thanks for bringing it some attention. I found the HL use of the word to describe the “scandael” self-serving. Searching google, this r-gate article now being propogat[ed] (the self-servig part) via like of business insider and the other results were Tim Shriver denouncing movie Tropic Thunder awhile back.

It’ one thing to hold on you’re reporting on what someone else’s scandal (I’m not sure Palin, Rahm, Shriver ever described it r-gate) and then claim you find the word offensive. Then another, to just report it in a less offensive manner.

If Glynnis were able to feel shame….she should….not holding out hope for that though.

Indeed, RE, there are few. Some get more caught up in them than others because of their appallingly more communication skills. Palin and Perry in Texas come to mind, but Pelosi and Reid do, as well. McCain, too, seems to have gotten himself in a bit of a vise. Nader and Paul, with neither of whom I find much intersection of belief, may illustrate, to some extent, politicians with fewer contradictions and inconsistencies.

Now that’s stange bedfellows! Rahm Emanuel and Sarah Palin agreeing on an issue. On this issue they seem to be BFF’s.

Did not see that coming. Actually throw in Andrew Sullivan apparently as he noted he finds the term offensive. Now throw in Rahm, Sullivan, Glynnis and Palin as strange bedfellow on this.

Actually Rahm seems to want to be a leader on this with his committment in signing r-word.org to make the R word obsolete

AND Emanuel also promised to look into Congressional legislation that would remove the word “retarded” from federal law. Now That’s France!
