Simputer - Tablet pc's.
Cram-down - The show Shark Tank.
Moratorium - NCADP.org; Texas Moratorium Network; Kansas, Kentucky, New Mexico, seven other states repeal/delay/reconsider.
Torpedo - Implemented in 2005
A bad drug good - Medical marijuana.
Zeroing in - Sounds like Minority Report's Precrime.
White House/press - Superseding the press earlier this year.

In re: "The Lie Detector That Scans Your Brain", there's a different technique from the "EEG mapping" the original article described. Functional magnetic resonance imaging was described in a Wired article in 2006, and lawyers attempted to use its results in court this March, but were unsuccessful. I'm not sure this means the idea has legs, especially in light of the predictions contained in the original article, but the science is definitely moving on this one.

In regards to Final Scratch, this is a definite Yes. DJs clearly still use turntables, but Final Scratch type software (Like Rane's Serato and Native Instruments' Traktor now) are far out pacing vinyl (or CD) use.
