Rosie O’Donnell Talks About ‘Physically Scaring’ Barbara Walters

video

We all knew that things had gotten rather grim on set by the time Rosie O’Donnell left The View. We knew things had gotten rather tense. But if the following interview is any guide, the usual cabin fever and paranoia that attends the implosion of any high-profile showbiz experiment here reached Hitler-in-the-bunker proportions. Comparing Barbara Walters, with all possible irreverence, to Helen Mirren’s Queen, and repeatedly noting, with all possible incredulity, how incredibly old Barbara is, Rosie goes on to describe an incident in which she – all “200 pounds” of her – physically menaced the matriarch of American talk-TV.

Rosie’s celebrity has always been a function of her willingness to be alarmingly candid about uncomfortable subjects in front of lots and lots of people, so the following clip, from an appearance she made on Oprah in front of, yes, lots and lots of people, should come as little surprise. See it for yourself below – and note how Oprah, who worships Walters, all but suffers a hernia straining to stay neutral.

In so many ways Rosie has shown us her class–or lack thereof. Not that I have any particular affection for Barbara Walters, but Rosie is the kind of person I try to avoid. Judging from the ratings (or lack thereof) of “The View,” there are apparently quite a few people who share my proclivity to avoid this hate-filled, obese wench.

CNN’s Jeffrey Toobin: Supreme Court Will Not Overrule ‘Deem and Pass’

    video

Bad news for Republicans should they be counting on using the Supreme Court as a last resort to block the Senate health care reform bill. Jeffrey Toobin visited Rick Sanchez today to talk about the chances of success Republicans will have if they try to legally oppose a "deem and pass" vote that would indirectly put the bill on the President's desk, and he didn't waste any time in telling the GOP that, quite simply, it's not going to happen.

CNN’s John King, USA Premieres On Web With Rehearsal Show

    video

There are two very distinct things to note about the way CNN has introduced the upcoming 7pmET show John King, USA to its audience - the show itself and the way it happened. John King hosted a trial run of the program today on CNN.com/live, which gave a sneak peek at what the show will be, but also gave viewers a chance to give their take on the first look.
