My comments are all strange and time-stamp broken. STOP MESSING WITH ME SKLAR. Also, doesn't that banner ad make you want to hang out with Kevin Connelly? It makes me want to hang out with you, Jeff Jarvis, Dan Abrams. Sklar can be our Shawna, which I guess makes Andrew Cedotal our Turtle.

Not unless you're a "media professional," heh. But does this mean you're not a "certain top contributor?" CAN HAZ SADNESS. Have you been promised Garyvee-like money? Are they helping you squash the grapes of your dreams into money? And: what's your power grid ranking?!!? ANSWERS DEMANDED.

Foster! As you know, from the well publicized letter requesting contributors that this was unpaid. As the letter states, "our goal is to develop these ideas, and eventually to pay certain top contributors a revenue share and/or stipend. This will probably be at least a few months down the road, but we want to make our intentions clear from the outset."

So full disclosure is only a click away. And yes, I'm an unabashed Rachel Sklar fan, is that a conflict of interest?

Anthony! Your Rachel Sklar fandom finally paid off. Question: were you paid for this?

Great piece. Thanks. I would underscore your point about this being a transitional time for social media, as well as potentially for the consulting you reference. Also, I couldn't help but think about the vaunted "multiplier" effect cited for the use of Twitter by observers of the protests in Iran and elsewhere. The corporate and branding effects you knowledgeably discuss are not entirely unlike the political ones seen in those protests. (I've riffed more fully on these ideas -- again, taking off with gratitude and full attribution from your excellent column -- at http://jdsviews.blogspot.com .)

The $65 million figure comes from Vaynerchuk himself. It's a private company so either you take him at his word or you don't.

I don't really understand where you get the $65 million comes from? Have you not been reading about the collapse of the wine market?

Nice work & a very good read. I have to admit that Gary V. comes across strongly, with a personality that, at first, makes it difficult to digest(at least in my case) whatever point he is trying to convey to you. That said, I think if more people listened to what he is saying rather than just "hearing" him, hard sometimes because of his passion, then they would get more out of his presentations, whether it's via video or a lecture. Certainly a person with a lot of worthwhile insight
