Former CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather and future MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell are in the anchor chair during what appears to be an alien invasion…

…In the upcoming movie Skyline, out November 11. Here’s the trailer.

It’s not clear whether O’Donnell and Rather will be part of the actual movie or are just in the trailer (they aren’t listed in the IMDB credits), but they play a central role in the teaser. Apparently, the alien encounter in Skyline is similar to the one Stephen Hawking warned us about in April – that it will not be a positive experience for us ‘Native Americans’ of Earth.

O’Donnell says in the trailer that Hawking “warned us about the possibility of aliens from outer space,” and Rather quotes almost directly from Hawking himself:

Hawking says that if extraterrestrials visit us the outcome might be similar to when Columbus landed in America. In other words, it didn’t turn out too well for Native Americans.

Ominous!

O’Donnell has done some acting, including a recurring role on the current HBO polygamy drama Big Love. And Rather has too – he appeared several times in the ABC show Dirty Sexy Money (but playing himself).

The movie stars Zach Braff‘s friend on Scrubs and the boyfriend from Six Feet Under.

I think it is a reasonable discussion to have. Are we so arrogant to believe that out of the billions and billions of universes, that only we exist? I’m sure the Aztecs, who believed that they were the center of the world, couldn’t comprehend the fact that some other, more “advanced” society ended up on their door step.

Agreed. I’m tired of clicking on an article and being led to some other website because I accidentally clicked on a red C. But Laura Linney is in this show, so I almost have to see it. She’s a terrific actress.

One night–I’ll never forget–I saw a flying saucer. It was followed immediately by a flying cup and then a flying rolling pin. As it turned out, they were all launched by my wife who was expressing some problem about my coming in at 3 AM. Since I mended my ways, I have not seen any UFOs…but that’s another story.
