IOW: The ruling isn’t new. The Minnesota commission first said it was discriminatory in ’92. This one man filed the first complaint and is responsible for every other case in Minnesota. He has also filed complaints in four other states and despite telling John Oliver of The Daily Show that he could make a living from these “discriminatunities” (Oliver’s word), he’s only pocketed about $6000 over the past two decades.

The third page of the complainant profile that I linked in my previous comment quotes a rep from the Tavern League asking a rhetorical about “Kids Eat Free” and senior’s meal discounts. A columnist for the paper has aslo posed the question regarding movie ticket prices and Mr. Horner’s profile also links to Daily Show segment lampooning him and his crusade from 2007.

Rudov has a point because that’s basically the position of the state and to underline the point, the man who filed the complaint against five bars hadn’t been to them, he lives in Utah and he’s filed similar complaints against bars in several states over the past two decades.

Basically this time around, someone sent him an article about Ladies’ Nights at dozens of Twin City bars; he called five at random, asked if he could get a discount and then filed his complaint. The only other time the anti-discrimination charges have been used regarding Ladies’ Night previously in Minnesota was back in ’92, when this same gentleman filed a complaint.

All well and good. And it underlines Rudov’s point about selective enforcement, which… here comes the wet blanket… I wonder if Gretchen would be so dismissive of such a allegation, if they were discussing a “Foxier” subject?

No matter that in this case, the “policy” has actually been confirmed.
