Tiger Woods Now Officially More Important Than 9/11 In Eyes Of The NY Post

Today marks the 20th straight day in a row that Tiger Woods has hit the cover of the New York Post. Want to put that in perspective? The previous holder of the most consecutive Post covers title was the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, which dominated for 19 straight days. I suppose this officially makes Tiger the the Sherman McCoy of the sports world in the eyes of the New York media. I wish I could do a side-by-side comparison just to give you a visual appreciation of the phenomenon, but as I have bemoaned on prior occasions the New York Post archive only goes back to 2007 (ahem, Rupe).
So what to make of this? For one, despite all the chatter about our decreased, Internet-addled attention spans, we apparently have an insatiable appetite for scandal. Also, Tiger Woods is apparently just as good, or better, at selling newspapers and magazines due to bad behavior as he is at selling sports paraphernalia due to good golf behavior. Other than that I’m not sure it’s a sign of much except that we continue to pay too much attention to celebrities, etc. Also, this is the New York Post, I’m fairly certain they could care less about the larger meaning of anything as long as the papers are selling and they haven’t run out of Tiger puns. Meaning, probably, that the world isn’t going to end quite yet.

I am very glad that this annoying subject of Tiger Woods is finally being at least exposed for what it is here.It seems again, us average intelligent people are being insulted by the media. This is absolute tabloid journalism and the corporate greed of the media companies to get as many ratings as possible by going on the bandwagon to exploit this situation. Also what a great way to not report about what really pertains to our lives like jobs, the war, and the economy.
Highly reflective of the current American intellectual level… Years of gadgets and 20 of the last 29 years under deadbeat RepubliNazi “leadership.” What else could possibly be expected?? The US is the most under-educated country in the Free World. And damned proud of it!!

Well, we know YOU’RE proud of it… or at least being a perfect representation of that statement.

New York Times’ Benefactor Carlos Slim Named Richest Man In World By Forbes

So why can't the Grey Lady scrape by with a little more profit? Forbes just announced it's annual rankings for billionaires, and Carlos Slim Helu - who in 2008 became the largest shareholder in The Times and arguably saved the paper from bankruptcy - has been announced the #1 wealthiest person in the world.
Glenn Beck: Can We Officially Call It ‘Tickle Fight Tuesday’? (Update)
With any luck Eric Massa will have wound his way out of the news cycle, likely never to be heard from again. In the meantime there is the a bit of a clean-up job that needs to be done by Glenn Beck. Something which he got started on during his radio show this morning, in what could be called 'Ridicule Massa Wednesday.'
