I’m absolutely not saying Glenn Beck is responsible for what this woman did. But to say there is no connection between Genovese highlighting Beck’s call to action 6 weeks ago (“We are coming. We will be heard.”) and what she did is disingenuous. But either way, I believe it is a misinterpretation of Beck’s statements for anyone to take it to a violent level.

It was a fine line with what happened between Dr. Tiller’s murder and O’Reilly incessant harping on the issue. In that same way, if Olbermann’s “Bush is a facist” storyline turned into violence, I’d made the same exact point. O’Reilly and many others are critical of Obama now, and that’s fine. It’s appropriate and it’s truthfully what we need to do as members of the media – hold the government accountable. But some, in some specific instances, have taken it to a level that raises questions if it crosses the line.

This article is a joke, right? Blaming Glenn Beck for someone’s psychotic break. Steve Krakauer has to be some sort of imbecile to suggest that Mr. Beck is truly responsible. I’m sure you might find other inflammatory writings in Nancy Genovese’s house: Titus Andronicus is pretty violent. The next time she bakes someone’s kid in a pie we can blame Shakespeare. She might even watch SpongeBob Square Pants. That’s a pretty violent show. Okay, now that I’ve thought about this piece, I’m convinced that Mr. Krakauer is the nut-job.

And what do we do about the whack jobs who listen to O’Reilly?….or the loons who lap up each and every word Olbermann says….or what about that creepy guy in spandex who hates Howie Kurtz’s hair? I suspect that many people who have committed violent acts in this country have probably listened to and been encouraged or angered by all of these people. Is this the tipping point for all? Not counting Howie of course…his hair is so cool…if you are still living in 1967, but I digress…
When do we draw the line….and where?….. Who is going to be the final word on who goes and who stays?
Oh..I got it….Hugo can decide…he’s really good at closing stuff down.
