Donald Trump‘s rejection of the Koch brothers has made him a truly unique Republican presidential candidate, and he’s keeping that fight going.
The Koch brothers are holding a political donor retreat this weekend, and to mark the occasion, Trump tweeted this out:
I turned down a meeting with Charles and David Koch. Much better for them to meet with the puppets of politics, they will do much better!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 30, 2016
Now, this comes exactly one day after a Politico report that said the Kochs were the ones who rejected a meeting with Trump, not the other way around.
There was even one Trump donor who went on the record to confirm he was pushing for Trump to meet the Kochs, saying, “We think it’s really important that Donald convince Charles he’s the right guy, and for Charles to influence Donald’s policies.”
