U.S. House Decides There Won’t Be A Resolution Honoring Those In Bin Laden Mission

The Senate may have recently, and unanimously, passed a resolution honoring those involved in the successful raid on Osama bin Laden‘s Abbottabad compound (including President Barack Obama and former president George W. Bush), but the House apparently has no plans to follow suit. The move stems from a resolution, passed in January, that sought to put an end to passing the type of congratulatory measures some in the GOP felt “clogged up the House floor.”

Now, that move is prompting criticism from House Democrats who feel that, this time, as exception should be made. Said New York Rep. Jerrold Nadler:

I don’t know why we’re not. Certainly we’ve passed a lot of resolutions for a lot less important things. I think we ought to pass a resolution honoring the military and the president. How often do you get unadulterated, unabashed, absolute good news about something really important in this country, or any country?

That’s because Obama hates America and only killed bin Laden to cover up his lack of birth certificate and lousy economy.
    Wake up, people!

I hope this story is correct for seal team six families. The less we know the less Al Queda will know.

You know if a republican president had ordered the mission the house would be falling all over itself to honor the warriors. But that’s as far as they really care.

I agree with this move. There is no need for the House or Senate to self-congratulate an issue when those SEALS and families lives may be in danger. The House and Senate can work out budget cuts instead.

Are you saying that in order to name them they’d have to be named publicly? Because if that is the case, I agree with you, it shouldn’t be done. Keep their names out of it, and I am happy for them to be honored.

The Senate resolution did not name them specifically, nor does any House resolution need to. Suddenly the rules matter to these clowns? This is just more of the same tired old partisan hackery.

    For shame.

If you’d read the article, you’d notice that it’s a new tradition or rule for the House. Don’t attack what I said when the facts are in the article.

I wasn’t aware that the names weren’t listed. I am neither pro or con on creating a Resolution. I tend to think most Resolutions are silly. I wouldn’t think this one was, but Congressman and women shouldn’t need to create resolutions. They should be working on ACTUAL legislation.

If the names weren’t listed, I could agree with it then. :) I am all for support, but not at the hand of personally naming them for risk of putting them in personal danger.

Instead, the democratic house members are falling over themselves. For those who work spec ops there will be medals awarded. They don’t need congresses political, hollow accolades. Then there is the practical side, cover must be maintained.

“Now, that move is prompting criticism from House Democrats”

And their willing accomplices in the media. In other words, you.

RAWR GOP IS EVULLL! Vote Democrat!

This is the right decision. The House should not be wasting the public’s time with votes for resolutions that have no real world importance and thus clog up the legislative process.

They should be wasting the public’s time on votes for laws that have no chance of passing in the Senate nd thus have no real world importance and clog up the legislative process.

The House should be looking into impeachment proceedings. This clown-president overstepped his authority to the point of lawlessness. As much as we rejoice in UBL’s death, NO president should ever have the power to usurp Constitutional law. What we are seeing here is one more glaring example of this government exceeding their Constitutionally limited power. This jerk-president must be held to answer for his crime!!
