Was Jay Leno Behind Barbara Walters Ending Her Oscars Special?
But Barbara Walters will be ending her 29-year run of Oscars specials when the final one airs Sunday at 7pm, And before she goes, she’s going on competing networks (and cracking jokes) to promote the hell out of it.
On NBC, she stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, to reveal why she’s stopping the ABC mainstay. “I’m sick of them,” she said bluntly. Then she made some predictions – including Sandra Bullock taking home the Best Actress Oscar.
The hour earlier, she showed up on Late Show with David Letterman to do a Barbara Walters-Oscars-Special-themed Top 10 list. Letterman was gracious. “If you wanted a career in broadcasting in the days broadcasting meant something, this is where you needed to be right there ladies and gentlemen,” he said.
Some of the list:
#8 – “I’ve forgotten how to make people cry.”
#7 – “Don’t want to do any more of these lame Top 10 lists.”
#2 – “I was pushed out by Jay Leno.”
Good one…and wait until you see #1.
