Handshake analysis day continues here at Mediaite. After a failed greeting with Poland’s first lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda, President Donald Trump got back in the win column later on Thursday by successfully executing a handshake with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The Trump-Merkel handshake in advance of Friday’s G-20 summit was bound to be scrutinized following an awkward Oval Office moment in which Trump appeared to ignore a handshake request from Merkel. Subsequent comments by both Trump and Merkel figured only to heighten tensions between the world leaders.
But White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer insisted on May 30 that Trump’s relationship with Merkel is “fairly unbelievable.” And the Thursday greeting offered no evidence to the contrary.
On Fox News, the Outnumbered crew laughed and poked fun at all the scrutinizing of the greeting, even as they themselves analyzed it.
“We need the body language experts to tell us, what does that mean?” Panelist Jeanine Pirro said. “Did they look straight in the eye? Were they smiling.”
“Steady and firm!” Meghan McCain added.
